Extremely High Margin Requirements on Back Months - Interactive Brokers

I'm arguing they are NOT "illiquid"....I wonder if Walt tried to leg into it by buying the strangle then selling the straddle...or the call side then put side, would he still run into the crazy margin calc? I guess what I'm trying to say is I think brokers are behind the curve as ES options...

Extremely High Margin Requirements on Back Months - Interactive Brokers

you can do the order on TOS but what is interesting they don't tell you what happens to your BP...its marked as N/A...as far as liquidity the DEC right now are very liquid. I haven't had any problem closing FOTM orders. However I haven't gone any farther out than 3 months. I had/have more...

    ES Journal - 2013

you could very well be right...looked at the 52 week high/low and we are almost 400 freaking points above the low....problem is..guessing when. When there are no meaningful pullbacks then 100-200 pt drops are more probable. Playing the drift upward but buying a few OTM puts.

Stevegee58's Option Trades: Road to Consistency

I see you adjust based on delta's. Do you use any TA or charts to guide the precise entries? Actually not a bad year for IC's...been doing very small on SPX but having to adjust the calls as market has been pretty much on a drumbeat to the upside. What I've been doing to adjust the calls is...

Thanks for the smile of the morning...Ivory is a soap. The term "Ivy league" comes from the English Ivy that grows up the old "establishment" brick buildings from American Universities back east like Princeton, Harvard and Yale. :)

The Jack Hershey Public Record Thread

good article..this sums it up "Well-written work — whether in plain language or mathematics — requires comprehensible explanations and definitions, so that a non-specialist with a moderate interest in the subject can quickly and easily grasp the gist of the concepts, the theory, the...

Thats what I haven't figured out...is TA only Price and Volume? What exactly "makes" an indicator "technical"? I know that fundamental analysis is based on certain know "facts" (and... known... should be in quotes as well) such as PE etc. I guess you could argue that fundamental analysis is...

    S&P E-Mini Options on Futures

That June 150 SPY is similar to June 1500 ES ...you can do the same trade by selling the ES option. That far out is not as liquid but I do have one trade there I did the 1500 Straddle because my bet is the market will go up and down but not be that far off. You can then take off which ever leg...

Broke Man offers 40% return on collateralized loan on his Tax refund

plenty of ways...its called EITC...if you have 3 children and "earn" 10K you will get "back" as much as 3-5K EASY...Refundable Credits.... again though there is only a 50/50 chance he is going to even GET his refund.

Broke Man offers 40% return on collateralized loan on his Tax refund

The problem is there is no guarantee HE will get his refund...IRS or State can garnish for back child support...back taxes etc...also who is to say he can't line up 100 backers promising the same refund:D

    S&P E-Mini Options on Futures

Small correction on CD's answer. The ES Options do trade in nickel increments. I'm a huge fan of the ES options for the smaller retail trader. They are highly liquid and even FOTM options WILL trade although you may have to accept some excess slippage. Most traders will do variations of flys...

First Post - Intro and First Swipe @ an Options Strategy

As Mr Atticus says time is the killer in this strat. You need to sell at some point to offset the risks of time and vol. Spreads are better esp for your longer term buys. For your short term buys try the ES weekly calls. Its more directional but you can play for a lot less money.GL...
