Riskarb's combo to fly conversion journal

Having slept on this...I agree...in an IRA where you have no margin its allYOUR money and opportunity costs at stake. This conversion looks for a small edge which in purchasing the "tiny" wings initially I think eats up that "edge"...the best thing is to try it in your IRA paper account...I...

    icemans' IRA trading Journal

I was just commenting on the fact that his Scottrade account would not let him trade options in IRA which I think is incredibly short sighted on the part of brokers since options do give a person a way to hedge and protect their IRA....PDT rule not a big factor in most option IRA accounts since...

Riskarb's combo to fly conversion journal

Nick...I did ok with CME but I purchased the stock...THEN sold 1 straddle. Later bought back the put rather than putting on the wing as that gave me 80%profit..I closed out the call and I guess made some money on that...its kinda half-assed do-able in an IRA but not as efficient as what RA is...

I've put an order in on SHLD but don't know if it will be filled as VP said sometimes volume is skinny on the put side...also thanks VP for helping me think "outside" the box on these...what I'm trying to do is Jun/Feb 120/115 and smaller number of Jun115/feb115...I'll see if it fills.

    SPX Credit Spread Trader

didn't see the second paragraph...they do emphasize the importance of the over-all portfolio management...and yes it is important to weigh each trade within the position as to how it affects the overall position as well as the portfolio. I guess that is why they don't recomend too many...

At every seminar I have been to they DO NOT even mention SPX as a trading vehicle other than don't trade it :p they prefer the smaller indices which for most traders is probably the best. While I do not disagree with them......I've been making money on these FOTM SPX trades....so far
