In fairness to TS, I have been having more stocks then ever before
coming up "short" at IB. Shorted a couple today, and could only get about 1/4 my size on the plays. Shares not available. One of the stocks is quite liquid, and was surprised they weren't available.
Isn't it also true that much more leverage is available on those other instruments? Never did buy the SEC reason for the PDT rules. All the brokers I used in 5 years only allowed 4 -1 day, and 2 to 1 night for PDT.
I believe your 25k account is only frozen after it has been PDT flagged. Shouldn't be any different if you have over 25k or a smaller account as long as the criteria for PDT haven't been met.
A small account flagged is frozen until it is reset or funds upped to 25k, and a 25k account frozen...
I use tradestation for charting and small long swing plays only. The charts freeze in high volume, but that may be my PC. I run about 6 to 8 pages with 6 charts on each, and some quotes, which is why I like them. I am doubling the data to get black outlines on my candles, so extra data is...
It's the fed. No risk anymore. At least that's the mindset. The gov won't let us fail. Personally, my short plays have been struggling lately. I got to thinking about all the CNBC whining about the shorts and the uptick rule recently. Then it dawned on me. The shorts still have the...
Second that on Art. I like him best followed by Santelli as far as analysis. (I like morning guys Joe Kernen and Mark Haines for entertainment purposes. Joe's hair is always funny looking).
I don't believe Art has called a final bottom yet, has he?
Guess it is the mouse, after all. The flicker occurs exactly 5 seconds after I place the curser in the TWS. Any thoughts IB techies? Intellipoint 6.1 (causes a flicker in other products, such as excell, too).
Is anyone having issues with occasional flickering with TWS. About every 30 seconds or so, my pages flicker 1 time. No other issues. I installed new mouse software last night, and shouldn't be related, but when 1 action is followed by another new action, I get to wondering. Any thoughts?
thx
If I understand, then there would be no increase in the short term gains (less then 1 year holds), only the long, which would be investments (over 1 year).
Would the expiration of the Bush tax cuts cause an increase in the short term rate (as other tax rates will go back up)?
Thing about the initial interview with Hillary, and the Maria interview with Obama, I'm not convinced either even knows what a capital gains tax is. That is scary to me. They are the ones who sign or veto bills. I also get tired of hearing how people under certain incomes don't pay...
My thoughts, also. Add to that the perception we are at a bottom, even though we may not yet be, can't think the money managers want to explain why they were late to the party if we have indeed bottomed.
I almost never enter the market biased, but I actually held a large long overnight...
Right hand on the mouse, left on the hot keys. Orders executed at IB, charts tracked at Tradestation, Indicies and level two at E signal. Overall best for me after 5 years. Daytrades and scalps.
Never use market orders except for hard stops. Limits only for entries.
What a dog. I know someone using this in his practice, and it is a great product. It saves lives. Supposedly the company has no debt. They gave some dubious excuses in the last earning conference about backorders, but what really pisses me off is when I emailed their IR dept, my E's were...
I think you're on to something, ammo. Next time I get angry at a loss, I'll ask myself:
"am I going to now rise to the level of my incompetence"?
My next question after that will be:
"if so, how much will this incompetence cost me"?
I only hope I can rationally ask myself that in...
One other thought on this issue:
I read that this is not an uncommon issue that some traders have to overcome. Apparently there are traders who do this once in a year, wiping out the whole year. And traders who do it every week.
My goal is overcome it now so as not to deal with it on...
The worst thing about it is, I get in trouble because after the loss that triggers this event, I size up (10x my normal). That's the end game. It takes one stop loss and that's it. Yet, I have proven to myself time and again, I don't need to change my risk to make back a loss. I play...
