    Holding 3x etf long term

When would you say "holding a leveraged ETF long term is the right thing to do"?

Why would Bridgewater hedge fund hold 87% of equity assets in simple ETF's? Theories?

They have roughly 160 billion plus leverage to work with.

    Chess

His wife was so demoralized by his fascination with chess that she nailed all his pieces to the board.

Took out a loan to transition to full-time trading. 24 years old.

Fabulous post! Wise and helpful. Maybe one day only algorithms and Xela will beat trading and the computers will complain about her on a daily basis. I greatly enjoy Xela posts.

    Trading mentor

The best way, and very hard to almost impossible, is to find a winning trader who will speak with you for free; perhaps you can work for him or her. Unfortunate Rule Of Thumb: Most "mentors" who teach for money do not win in today's markets. They often charge quite a bit up front and then want...

Buying AMZN and shorting CAT today (10/4/2017)

I would prefer to be long Cat into the earnings as the probabilitis and EV favor (in my opinion) the continued bullish hopes of a good earnings release; possibly short on the release. Amazon; well I would not mind adding it to a long-term portfolio. Good luck.

How to make a killing with options

Lol.. perhaps the joke is on me for making a hasty assumption about Sle. And this may have even detracted from what I was trying to convey. Looking at Sle's posts, I see he has more than a good deal of trading knowledge, wherever it came form. Looking forward to more of his posts.

Trading the EUR/USD vs either the 6E or the E7 ?

Slippage is caused in part by the bid/ask spread and is one of the prime reasons it is hard to be a winning trader. * hard, but not impossible.

How to make a killing with options

Partly my point, since most ET posters are traders or want to trade. Even SIG execution guys (which is a huge part of trading) receive broad training in "Getting The Best Of It" Most ET members are not top quants, but a few young people with outstanding backgrounds outside of trading wander...

How to make a killing with options

Certainly true for the very vast majority of people. Having played poker with some of the founders when they were Vegas poker pros before they went to Wall Street, I am familiar. My post was meant in part to highlight what the trading world is like In part to stimulate discussion And my post...

How to make a killing with options

Thanks for the post but I do not think you are very familiar with Sesqhanna. As far as a trading education, they are a top, top firm and the owners are all billionaires starting from basically nothing. Sesqhanna prides itself on educating their traders deeply in "gambling theory" as well as...

Thanks for the info Of course I was referring to the retail firms we see advertising to the masses

How to make a killing with options

One way would be to get a job as a trader for Sesqhanna. You would not keep the spoils but you would learn the real ins and outs of trading and after a few years start making good money. Plus doors open for good Sesqhanna traders should after a number of years they move on. Caveat: Most...

Forex Prop Firms that Allow Swing Trading

Does Oanda book the US traders bets or are they a true midleman in a real market? (I have never traded FOREX or futures but understand the difference)

    Canada explicitly bans binary options

Good! The vigorish charged by these bookies (err.. binary options firms) makes this an unbeatable game. These firms are running a con game with slick marketing and they lead the naive to believe they can become pro traders betting (err.. trading) with them. Maybe try looking at it this way...

How simple are professional trader's strategies?

And, one way or another, a winning trader must have overall positive expectation (an edge) on their trades. Long ago I used to taking on too much risk in my gambles. This is a common flaw with people who find winning edges. I greatly appreciate Xela over and over stressing the importance of...
