How busy are you during the trading day?

I hope I didn't imply that I'm a frazzled, high-strung trader on the edge all day, because I'm certainly not. I've taken off for a run in the middle of the day, or booked off early to go to the beach. And I think playing video games or just goofing off during the day is a great way to break up...

Have you ever TRADED IN YOUR SLEEP?

When your mind is wrapped up in something all day long, it's sometimes hard to turn it off and I dream about trading quite a bit, usually after I've spent all day and all night working on a strategy or something. You know how many people have dreams where things are going really bad and you...

How busy are you during the trading day?

I know by Friday I'm mentally beat and I'm sure it's because I'm trying to concentrate and do so many things at once. Here's what I'm doing at once for most of the day: On the open, I've got the left headset with a guy reading news, on the right ear I've got my trading partner talking to...

    vpn connection and lan

I trade with a citrix connection now and am thinking of switching to a vpn connection and have a question for more experienced techies. Can I have the vpn and still have all four of my computers networked and easily accessible? I tried the vpn once before and it totally wrecked my lan.

    home builder traders

What, are you a fundamentalist or something? :p If the builders are moving and I'm looking to hit a few of them, GS wouldn't even enter into the picture. Now show me some action in leh and mwd and that's a different story.

    Free Live S&P Squawk Box

xsquawk is run by Larry Hansen and the squawkers in the spoos pit are Paul, Joe and sometimes Tommy. I've heard Ben and I like xsquawk much better.

    home builder traders

Agree, they used to be great traders, but most days aren't worth the risk. I trade LEN RYL KBH PHM TOL DHI. BZH and HOV gap too much and I don't like the fills from the CTX specialist. Winsum, I don't know how you can relate Goldman Sachs to trading the homebuilder sector.

1 Min Charts, any use of them at all???!!

It depends on what you use charts for I guess. I just want to see the trend for the day and significant highs and lows. I have a lot of charts up and use 1 minute for the first 45 minutes of the day, then 2 minutes for a while, and by lunch time I switch to 5's. The spoos and the tape are...

    Dividend capture

Yes, holding un-hedged longs for 4 week periods to collect a 30 cent dividend does sound like a smashing good idea, maybe it is the holy grail!

Who has the shortest hard to borrow list?

Among pro firms. I'm running into too many htb stocks. Can anyone provide a link to a trading, clearing or stock loan business that posts their list on the web? Anyone know what firms might have access to the most stock to borrow? PM or email me with comments or a list if you can.

Echo Trade, one of the best firms out there

Yep, Sterling is pretty good, until all the quotes freeze in a fast market and you're screwed. I have to second Uptick's comment about rising fees. Want the more stable software plaform? gotta pay extra. Want news? gotta pay extra. Want open book? gotta pay extra. Echotrade was a...

    Bright Trading NYC

I was with Echotrade for a year and always recieved wire requests the same or next day, never a problem. When I left the firm, I had all my cash back to me in four days. I wouldn't say Bright has a lock on sending people their own money in a timely manner.

    Worldco R.I.P. 1993-2003 ?

All the whiners seem to forget that their reality is limited to the other traders they talk to and trade with. If they are sucking wind, then they assume we all must be. However, as has been pointed out in several threads already, the people who have kept a positive attitude, have been open...

    Todd Harrison is writing again

I think you are way oversimplifying to say that he just buys puts and eats constant losses on them. Sounds like the core style he's been employing lately is long puts, long stock on a ratio that gets him longer as the market rallies and shorter as it falls. His bull/bear posture thing...

    Canadian Taxes???

Yes, you should be able to deduct trading losses and overhead costs against regular income. You don't have to include statements and such with your return, but you have to retain them in case the feds ask to see them. If you are an unincorporated business, you must use Dec 31 for your fiscal...
