From the first day's screen shots, Surf racked up $525 in commissions vs. Mav's $5. Those trading the combine may want to take note of how fees/commissions can rack up when taking a scalping approach, especially when you consider that to meet the profit objective, it must be NET of all...

Surf, I asked this question already on the "Q&A" thread, there is no "auto shut off" with the T4 unless you hit your max loss on the day. At the equity props (the ones I've traded with) the risk managers will shut down after a specific max loss that you specify. Patak wrote they want...

That's why the correct approach for someone who has never traded futures is to practice first before taking the combine. At the bare minimum, taking the 14-day free sim trial and getting familiar with the platform/products are a given. Developing a strategic plan on how meet the parameters...

Some of us get it. Mav has it in reverse. The purpose of doing the combine IS to get funded, becoming a discplined trader and not having to put up your own capital is the byproduct. Imagine this model: TST provides a sim account, charges a fee, and allows you to become a discplined trader...

Perhaps PTP rates are higher or lower vs. TOS and IB, not sure. From the reports presented thus far, I'd have to agree that the probability in passing the combine decreases with a scalping approach. In one of the reports where the trader passed, most days he only traded 1 or max 2 lots of...

I think what Peternam was asking about is whether or not the commission schedule itself was marked up, not whether it was TST or PTP that did the markup. It is self evident that TST is the recruiting firm that collects the combine fee and implements the combine, and PTP does the financial...

Ok thanks. Does anyone know if the orders such as an OCO with trail stop will stay in their servers on the DOM if you logout during the night? With Amp/Ninja, if you place orders in the sim, they don't hold, so even if you could have made some coin in the overnight, the order gets reset...

    Bright Trading LLC

When you join a registered prop firm you become a "member" of that firm, which allows you to trade the firm's capital. By "funding" you are placing a capital contribution with the firm in order to use buying power, which will exceed the bp you get at a retail firm, which is capped by PTD...

I also signed up for the free 14-day sim and started attending the online classes, which works out great since it's during the stock doldrums at 11am cst. I've been trading a few products at night to get a feel for the platform and liquidity, even though the liquidity tends to dry up for...

Don, I've heard you write about the "opens", what I'm unclear on is how does someone manage 100+ stocks at once? Does the REDI software allow for multiple orders on the same stock before the open? I can't recall when I saw your software if it had such a feature (it's been awhile)...

Ok, Mav, let's get back to the rules, and bring up the points made by Crispy and nazzdack. You're making the same mistake in reading the rules, just as I did with the trading plan, which Laissez corrected. Take note of "AND" vs. "OR". It's in the fine print, just as nazzdack stated. Here's...

Oops, you're right, I overlooked the "AND" since it stated "$500 or $1000", but the remaining portion does in fact say "AND".

    1) Agreed, it's better to have it incorporated into one's trading plan than not. However, the fact still remains that these ARE additional metrics that traders must abide by in their live account, but NOT in the combine. Those doing the combine may simply want to read the .pdf so that there...

Actually, I quoted it directly from the trading plan. Your example is correct, if someone is UP $700, they should stop if they start losing $350, but nothing stops them from being up $700, losing $200 (thereby net up $500, so still below the 50% pullback), and then back up to $1,000. Your...

What isn't known is the amount of intraday swing of P&L within that last day, and if they added to a losing position to meet the profit objective. However, trading in the combine allows for more leeway than trading in a live account. For example, the trading plan (which a live trader...

Can a trader sign up for the 14-day trial and attend the classes before joining the combine, or is it only for those who are already in the combine? The site says the open forum is only on Fridays.

hitnrun, Agreed, crude had some decent plays. The op who claims traders are making "blanket statements" on what to trade is missing the point. One approach to passing the combine is to watch a product that has good volatility and time it accordingly. Given the $350/avg daily profit...

This is good to know. AMP/Ninja sim account is the same. However, the TOS sim is totally different as you will get filled when the price hits regardless of the number of lots or when you placed the order. If you're doing the combine then you want to have fills that are as realistic as possible.

CoolTrader, Crude has some wicked moves, today it dropped 4 pts which equates to 4 grand on 1 lot! Even getting a piece of this would have been good. Scalping for a few ticks will be difficult, given that the combine also requires TWO of the following: 1. average win greater than...
