Is trading with odd lots viable? (IB)

Your market order will go through, but you may get a lousy fill, especially on a volatile stock or a stock with wider spreads between the bid/ask. I just use limit orders when it comes to odd lots, so that way I know what price I'll get.

    Topsteptrader

This comes straight from the owner, Michael Patak, from another recent thread: "We have had many situations where Traders moved out of FTP and on to a Funded Account before completing all 10 days." So it's subjective, he may (or may not) have to take it. There was another CL trader (I believe...

Which is more profitable? Short-term trading or long-term trading?

When it comes to playing the markets (which by definition is a speculative vehicle), cost basis and time horizon are the most important factors. Daytraders/short term traders can make money as long as they have a well defined game plan AND enough equity to stomach the drawdowns. If you're...

Is trading with odd lots viable? (IB)

As a general rule, you can't trade odd lots if you're with a prop firm (licensed), or some firms that don't allow it. However, every retail firm that I know of will allow a retail trader to enter/exit odd lots. I've bought odd lots on several stocks and indexes, AAPL, DIA, etc., and never had...

    Suretraders

Did you read their FAQ's? I've provided the link below. It says the minimum to open an account is $500. Yes, the $40 outbound fee is "ridiculous" if you're constantly wiring out funds, however given that it's a foreign wire transfer, the fee is quite standard. Some domestic banks may also...

    Suretraders

The reason why some traders (and trading groups) prefer Suretrader is because the firm is a registered broker in the Bahamas and doesn't require the Series 56 license from U.S. citizens. I'm not sure why "all the reviews online are negative." You'd have to be more specific in the allegations...

Actually, some people don't read all the FAQ's and then are surprised by the additional rule changes between the combine, LTP and live account. Of course, when someone points out the discrepancies, it's often incorrectly labeled as "criticism." And as it's been posted repeatedly, whether one...

Two things I noticed from your combine: "8" is a powerful fib sequence, so after EIGHT days of consecutive wins, it's best to remain extra cautious on day 9 and trade light. I'm not sure if you've noticed this before, but if you take a look at your stats in your personal accounts (or prior...

AAPL is going down to $35-40 range

This is why AAPL must focus on expanding its market through other products such as the new iPad announced today, iWatch, AAPL TV, etc. It's about cross selling and "upselling" to new and existing customers. Regarding iPhone sales, they will continue to release newer versions to generate...

Online trading firm gets $4 million backing from big names "Benzinga" is in!

For the trader, yes. For the brokers collecting the commissions, no.

It's hard enough to get traders just to READ all of the FAQ's on TST's site, lol! And you want traders to set up their OWN sim, create their OWN strategy, write their OWN journal, etc. And then on top of that, you want to negotiate separate deals for different traders, AND keep "at least 50%"...

By the way, even though I claim the 10k is a "piker" combine, a one lot ES is equivalent to trading 500 shares of SPY, which is not quite "piker" by equity standards. SPY currently has almost a $4 daily ATR given recent volatility, and the historical ATR is $2. What makes it piker is not the 1...

Simplicity is best. Yes, there are too many complex rules with TST, even though they are spelled out in their FAQ's and easily obtainable. No need to reinvent the wheel, as TST has already built a solid infrastructure. Many posts on ET and Big Mike have questioned why a backer would fund you...

Prop Firm less than 5,000 deposit

Hooter was referring to Suretrader, they're in the Bahamas. However, talk to a CPA regarding the filing of an FBAR if you keep $10k or more in your name in any offshore bank/firm. Another thread on ET mentioned Suretrader being served a notice to produce all of their U.S. based traders so that...

Why are Futures and Forex more popular than stocks for short-term trading?

With futures, 1 lot of E-mini S&P 500 is equivalent to trading roughly 500 shares of SPY. Depending on what type of equity account you have, it can take from a minimum of $25k to $100k to trade 500 shares of SPY when SPY trades around $200/share. However with futures, you can trade 1 lot...

FATCA for Hedge Funds: Eight Common Pitfalls

BBRY shorts/longs/who still daytrading this POS?

RIMM, lol, what a TOTAL POS! 93% destruction in shareholder value since the 3:1 split. Ya, I vividly remember actively trading this turd many years ago. Looks like it still has lots of volatility. After quickly glancing at the numbers, it seems they have about 500 mil in shares outstanding...

Ya, I saw a post by another trader on a different thread regarding this new firm. It's "sketchy" when a firm states "Trade for 30 days demo and if you pass then you're funded." However, it doesn't list any of the terms, just a maximum draw of $5,000. And any experienced trader knows that...

A hot new theory is being passed around for why the market crashed last month

Probably because financial news sites need to keep their viewership active enough to generate their ad revenue. Check out the margin debt chart, it looks to have peaked in April-May-June of 2015 to an all time high of $507 BILLION. July numbers are out, and margin debt was reduced by...

Remote Prop Firms and Trading Capital

Seems like an interesting model. "Trade for 30 days demo and if you pass then you're funded." Their site doesn't really specify much, only that the fee for trading in demo is "ZERO" and a $5,000 maximum draw.
