Can anyone show examples of people getting trapped/areas of people losing money?

Better to concern yourself with what works for you rather than what doesn't work for others. Learning to read charts and developing a viable trade plan requires time and effort but it's easier than trying to read the minds of anonymous people around the world. Real traders don't get "trapped"...

    How do you cut losses?

I don't recommend being in the top and bottom picking business especially for a beginner but as to losses, know where you want to get out if the trade goes the other way before you enter. Hard stops or mental limits are personal choice but there needs to be a defined point where you cut bait.

What are the must read books on day trading?

Don't know about "must read" but the Mark Douglas books "The Disciplined Trader" and "Trading in the Zone" are important studies of the psychology of trading as without consistently appropriate behavior, the best technician in the world will fail. I like Joe Ross's book "Trading by the Minute"...

Is this considered a swing play to the downside?

I require multiple time frames to make entry decisions but your chart shows a higher high after a MACD divergent low and appears to be forming a bull flag.

Its impossible to be profitable in trading as a retail trader

Not impossible, difficult yes and often takes years to develop into consistent profitability. Most want to rush it and lose early unnecessarily. Dues will be paid in any event.
