    FOMC Rate Decision

All this says is the recovery is too weak to risk raising the cost of capital. The flip side is the risk of runaway inflation.....glad I'm not on the Fed.

    FOMC Rate Decision

    No I trade the ES.

    FOMC Rate Decision

I believe they are likely to stay pat but I'm not on the Board of Governors so what do I know? I never hold a position into a rate announcement but will take subsequent signals given acceptable risk/reward vis a vis volatility.

    is this insider trading?

The SEC adopted new Rules 10b5-1 and 10b5-2 to resolve two insider trading issues where the courts have disagreed. Rule 10b5-1 provides that a person trades on the basis of material nonpublic information if a trader is "aware" of the material nonpublic information when making the purchase or...

    is this insider trading?

Correct, only that one acted on information not then known to the public at large.

    is this insider trading?

We took a company public in the 90s. The attorneys basically said...when in doubt stay out.

    Questions for experienced ES daytraders?

Hope it helps...get ideas from others but you will have to develop a plan that works for you...there are no two just alike. There are those on these threads who claim it's impossible to consistently make money day trading. Don't listen to them but understand that it takes a lot of technical and...

    Questions for experienced ES daytraders?

I used to start playing with variables when things got flat like it did this Summer but over time things even out. I know volatility will return, in the mean time just have to stay patient and disciplined. Trending markets pay better but range markets are tradable, just more difficult.

    Questions for experienced ES daytraders?

Averages about 6 signals per day over the past year. Things have slowed down the past year or two but I believe it's just a tired bull market with no good cash alternatives and not a sea change, at least I hope not. In any event, it's still OK, just not the gold mine of great range and volatility.

    Questions for experienced ES daytraders?

Some weeks and months are great, some not so much but if you develop a trade plan with positive expectancy, you just have to take the signals. I made very little money the last three weeks of July and the first three of August but January and June were boffo....just have to be patient and not...

    Questions for experienced ES daytraders?

Win rate averages around 57%, 7% scratch, rest are losses. Not the best trade plan in the world but it works for me.

    Questions for experienced ES daytraders?

Sure, I average slightly less than ten ticks on gains and slightly more than 6 ticks on losses.

    Questions for experienced ES daytraders?

Personally, I wouldn't mess with a 1 minute chart except for maybe entry on a larger tf setup. Look to the 3 minute and examine the length of various legs ( moves). I use tick charts but there is nothing magical about them, I simply like the charts to adapt to current action...again, a personal...

    Questions for experienced ES daytraders?

I never risk more than $87.5 (7 ticks) per contract on any trade and rarely have more than 3 or 4 losses in a row.

    Questions for experienced ES daytraders?

My directional bias comes from my upper time frame with lower time and oscillator filters. My personal margin comfort level is 5000-6000 per contract. I can certainly do as well on less but if it compromises my comfort level, it's not worth it. Starting out trading with minimum capital...

    Questions for experienced ES daytraders?

I found a sweet spot in mean moves on the ES. It sometimes goes well beyond that before it retraces which used to bother me but I am looking for a piece of moves. My gains exceed and out number my losses and at the end of the day, that's good enough for me.

    Questions for experienced ES daytraders?

    1. Move in the direction of the trade prior to a retracement. There are some operational distinctions which will vary from trader to trader, you have to develop your own. 2. I use a double stochastic oscillator. Other than the aforementioned double divergence ( 2 time frames), they are not...

    Questions for experienced ES daytraders?

You may now have had your fill with comments from people who do not daytrade the ES. I do and have since 2003. My targets are modest and based on average favorable excursion rates, my stops are more modest however and are set as to S/R levels. I trade trends which would be difficult to see if...
