10 Places not to use your Debit Cards

Free transactions?!? Amex pays me (in cash) to make transactions using their credit card, that's a heck of a lot better than free in my book. Also how is security better with the debit card?

    Obama takes entire unemployment check

You are interpreting that quote wrong - it is saying that they will take 31% of the person's income and that income will be from unemployment insurance (if they qualify for this program they have to be unemployed), so its 31% of their unemployment insurance payments.

Boy Who Cried Bear Says We Are Going Down

Unfortunately I can actually afford my mortgage payments and have substantial equity in my house even at lower valuation levels so it looks like the gov't will continue to take my money and give it to stupid irresponsible folks. Unbelievable.

10 Places not to use your Debit Cards

The best solution for what? Online shopping? Restaurants? Gas Stations? To each his own, I have no problem using credit cards knowing that I'm fully backed by credit card protections and I receive all the benefits they provide.

10 Places not to use your Debit Cards

Here's a FW thread about this bank/deal, started by none other than longtime ET poster ElectricSavant who apparently has moved on to other pastures: http://www.fatwallet.com/forums/finance/980987

10 Places not to use your Debit Cards

That's a great rate but its only good up to $25k...I don't think its worth the hassle of making 15 debit card POS purchases/month.

10 Places not to use your Debit Cards

I've never understood the attraction of debit cards and when they are forced on me by my bank I simply stick them in a safe for storage never to be used. Why would you ever want to use a debit card instead of a credit card when the latter gives you cash back (or other rewards), free use of...

Rollover Self employed 401k but leave account open?

Interesting questions - I'm in the same boat (SE401k with Fidelity). I did some Googling and from what I can tell it depends on the plan. This implies you can't: http://www.accumulatingmoney.com/can-i-rollover-my-401k-while-still-employed/ But in this thread someone said they did (a...

a solution to US china trade imbalance

Pretty funny fiction. There is no doubt in my mind that long before those strategic missiles hit mainland US we would have already launched ours and would totally annihilate China at the same time. The idea that we wouldn't retaliate because we may or may not kill those responsible is...

Average daily loss with $50K account?

Depends on your trading style - if you've been at this awhile you should be able to lose at least $500 per day average, more on a really good day.

    US Loses AAA Rating ?

According to that story, under the "adverse scenario" the US would lose its AAA in 2013 which is a wee bit different then losing it this month, as your initial post predicted.

Ha Ha. I got my MBTrading 1099B/Div/Int statement (covering equity trades) by snail mail as always but my Penson GHCO 1099B covering futures trading only came by email. To respond to cstfx, here's the quickest thing I could find on the internet regarding the security of unencrypted...

    Retail sales number very good

So you agree its unsustainable and we just disagree on the timing. Fair enough... I don't see a lot of upside from here, certainly not worth the downside risk but then again I'm short the S&P (ES) so maybe I'm biased by my position.
