Is it possible to reduce risk to zero?

the closest youll get is straight up arbitrage. for a retail clients...this is not practical. but...for example. if a security is trading for two prices on two different exchanges at the same time, you can simultaneously buy and sell at different prices. but that is not risk free...you...

    Scaling in vs. Scaling out

In the past, i have generally been scaling into positions and selling all at once. i swing trade with 3-10 day holds generally in both stocks and options (purely directional). I am profitable...up around 50% or so on the year (average around 35%+ per year). My goal is 100% yoy (realatively...

    (Why) do most traders lose?

i think success in ANYTHING all boils down to discipline. 95% of people are a failure at business or the corporate world too. How many people WANT to be rich and how many actually are? why? they dont do the work or dont prepare suficiently to achive success...other things take...

Fed Announces Rates!! Massive market Surge!! I Am Right

Fed Announces Rates!! Massive market Surge!! I Am Right

    1. I disagree 100% with this...i say they are each useless if not used together, keep in mind FA also includes funadmental economic data like interest rates and such. increase the cost of borrowing, and iti s more difficult for the company to make money. you often see the results of FA before...

longer term (2 weeks+)...bear all the way. I agree with head and shoulders and lower highs and lower lows. short term (this week), oversold on a few different indicatiors...AND there is heavy support at the 130 level. I went pretty healvily long at the open (about 70% of the portfolio)...

Family has negative perception about trading

I had a similar situation several years ago... I opened a headhunting firm with a business partner. His wife was VERY conservative, hated the idea, and thought he should get a "stable" job. she was an accountant by the way. well...the money didnt come often...but when it came..it was...

Family has negative perception about trading

a couple things are key here... 1. If they dont like it....dont talk to them about it. change the subject...keep things amiable. My father in law is a minimalist and thinks it is stipid that i have 3 cars (only one is family type car..the others are toys really)...and a racecar. I think...

    the great depression revisited?

mixed emotions.... the great depression was caused by the following 1. Poor distribution of wealth (not happening now) 2. massive stock market speculation..without short selling as an instrument (without short selling the market is like a ponzi scheme really) 3. few checcks and...

    OIH oversold

agreed short term...i sold my puts... and see the same resistence and oversold ondicators at the 130 level. I am going to buy some August 130 calls if there is a small bounce Monday. I dont see any more than about 10 points max in the trade though.

    the hardest thing about trading...

I swear it has to be hanging on to winners long enough. It is easy to screen, It is easy to study charts patterns It is easy to cut losers short (for me at least...never had a problem with the 1% rule..just program the stop) It is easy to do the studying part...the information is there. i...

    Stuff I've wondered about

I think over time you may discover some things. 1. Day trading profitably is very difficult 2. Big profitable moves happen over time 3. Most of the big pros dont exclusively daytrade, dont close yourself off to holding a position for a few days, weeks, or months if it is working out for you.

Why do you want to be a trader?

It is the best game in the world. After several years, I have never gotten bored (and I get bored very easily). It is something that will never go away..it isnt a fad. Career wise it is very rewarding financially if you can compete. If you truly learn how to trade consistenly and well...
