Jim Rogers: Farmers will make more $ than bankers

Haha - my first thought was "so true"... next thought was "not!" However, in "farmimg" profits appreciation of the property (land) plays a very significant role. Shortie, you are not so far off. I am tempted to think Mr Rogers is quite forthcoming with his statement. So, by "farmers" he...

Jim Rogers: Farmers will make more $ than bankers

It's a lucky coincidence that this happened at the time Chinese economy got liberalized, which sparked unprecedented growth. As a result New Zealand farmers enjoyed a new huge export market for milk products. To make it better New Zealand farmers enjoyed competitive advantage. In 1990 after...

Dell, my last purchase and done with them

On the Dell subject. Read this article: http://www.nytimes.com/2010/06/29/technology/29dell.html "After the math department at the University of Texas noticed some of its Dell computers failing, Dell examined the machines. The company came up with an unusual reason for the computers’...

Secret Federal Reserve Location Revealed, Fed needs a bunker too

That's interesting. I have always been under impression that what we casually call "the Fed" is actually "The Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve". So, the Fed itself employs lots of secretaries, a few researchers and some support stuff like lawyers, and for anything else relies on the...

Forex Gone from IB, TDA, TOS, MFG, OptionsExpress July 16?

I'm sure these large brokers (Charles Schwab, T.D. Ameritrade, E*Trade, and Interactive Brokers) were given assurance that the music would keep playing for them. Otherwise there would be lots of fuss like notifying customers that they should close existing leveraged currency positions prior to...

Just released. "Smartest guys in the room" at Goldman took biggest bailout loan.

I thought opposing Zionism was perfectly "cool" on ET. Such opposition is not racist or offensive in any way unless I am seriously missing something... Regarding the image you posted, I haven't tracked down the "original" source yet but here is what google has to say...

I haven't paid attention to the term "Squid" before... Can you elaborate on what it actually means?

'War on terror' set to surpass costs of Second World War

Inflation-adjusted cost of "war on terror" is still below the cost of WW2. However, we shouldn't forget that a large part of expenses during WW2 were loans given to European governments for purchase of American weapons. Naturally, loans got repaid and weapons industry made the US an...

Jim Rogers: Farmers will make more $ than bankers

Soros is not new to this kind of risks. 10 years back he got near wiped out in Russia. There was no need for "masses to rise up". Just desire of the "oligarchs" to consolidate control of the property and a little help from courts in Moscow.

New San Francisco bridge built in China to be shipped to US

America is a "free" country. So, everyone thinks first and foremost about their own bottom line. To make the matters worse, giving job to hardworking Americans is not generally considered "charitable". Most prefer to give money towards help to the terminally ill or to starving people in a...

Jim Rogers: Farmers will make more $ than bankers

The "shock" is happening right now. From the article: "The main reason for U.S. farmers' unlikely recovery is as familiar as the outcome is foreign. Wealthier consumers in places like China and India are eating more, and in particular they are eating more meat. The average American consumes...

    Java vs C++ or C#

I think the OP and a few others use "mission critical" and "high perfomance" as interchangeable terms. "Mission critical" first of all means "reliable"... and (assuming the programmer is equally good at all of them) C# and Java require less experince and effort to create code that works...

Ron Paul: "The U.S. Government Must Admit It Is Bankrupt"

I was replying to RobtF and he was talking of the corporate tax rate. The charts show it indeed "was over 50% under Eisenhower". I posted charts with personal income tax rate just for comparison (and because annotation on some of them is easier to read). Thanks for quoting my post in full...

Anybody here trade forex with IB?

Your counterparty is always IB, same as with equity and futures trades. IB doesn't allow any single currency order to be larger than US$5mln in size. Regarding slippage, you don't submit a large order "at market" do you? You probably always use a "limit" order.
