PAG - cup and handle breakout

This is one of the few classic technical patterns I've found to be consistently reliable in all time frames. Especially when strong relative to the overall market. The same applies to the short side. Bull and bear flags also work. Again, relative strength/weakness is important.

What would be a good filter for a Mean-Reverting system?

That's not enveloping. There is nothing you could ever draw on a chart to describe what we did. Bollinger bands is just more nonsense a child could do with a paint brush.

What would be a good filter for a Mean-Reverting system?

That's a tough one. I know from experience, it's a lot of small wins and the occasional huge loss. We had a small team of 6 guys about 15 years ago, running an algo based on enveloping. It was scary as shit. That's probably why it worked. You have a thousand standing orders out there to...

    Stress and Trading

I'm surprised this doesn't help you more than it does. Do you drink alcohol? I learned the hard way that even just moderate amounts can really mess with my nervous system and cause all kinds of anxiety.

If an ex-dividend date is September 7....

Yes. The NMCES hours are from 4AM to 8PM. So considering T+2, and the record date is on the day after Ex, you will get the dividend if you buy one business day before the Ex date. Even if it's at 7:59PM (Record date being 2 days after purchase, and 1 day after Ex). But this got me curious...

I was sick, tired and had lost myself until I began lifting weights at 71

Good point. Jump ropes will help with that a little. But I have some 25lb dumbbells, so I could incorporate some bent over lat exercises.

I was sick, tired and had lost myself until I began lifting weights at 71

I'm 54, and I plan to start this workout on September 1st. I hurt myself recently, and my ribs are still sore. Hopefully I'm ready by then.

How to be okay with taking a Stop Loss?

Taking losses is simply part of managing risk and part of the game. Early in my career, after taking big losses and blowing out a few accounts, I realized I was Bart Simpson continuing to touch the hot stove while expecting a different result every time. I still remember the night I went...

Think or Swim Issues today? 8/17/21?

Thanks for the replies, guys, but it turns out I was just being an idiot. I created a new chart setup, and I forgot to go into the settings and enable the premarket charts. Oops. @murray t turtle, I use my Sterling charts which are linked to my level 2's for trading, but I like to have TOS...

Oops. One year and one day ago.

Think or Swim Issues today? 8/17/21?

Interesting how I started a similar thread exactly one year ago. Futures charts are loading no problem. Stock data is showing on top of each window, but no charts. Rebooted, opened TOS both normally and as admin and still nothing.

    POLL: Do you use margin?

I don't understand some of these answers. Get your 57 license, get 50 to 1 leverage, learn to manage risk, and we can talk. Sorry for the language in advance, but of course you fucking use margin. What is the point of being on this site if you don't?

    Getting a new dog today.

His daughters love the dog. It's a story book ending. I'm just very happy for them. And although I'm kind of a cat guy, ours has always been pretty angry. But we are getting along nicely. She will look at me with her angry face, jump in my lap, and be the sweetest girl. She's awesome.

    Worst options/trading book?

I gotta go contrary to the title of the thread, for a reason. Again, I tend to ramble lately, so bare with me. I'm 54 and I don't give a shit. I was working in the mailroom at IDS (Later called Ameriprise) in Minneapolis about a thousand years ago while I was in college, and I went to The...

    Getting a new dog today.

Lol. Goofballs is a great way to put it. There were times I would call Brewster a dork, and he would look at me like "Dude, seriously? Are you not the dork". I would just say Yes, Yes I am, and go about my business and let him chase squirrels. Wow, the old memories are flooding back.

    Getting a new dog today.

I'm glad you got a new dog. Although Lulu didn't work out, this made me realize I am ready. I also have foot prints of Brewster. 20 minutes til the open. I suppose I should get to work. Thank you everyone.

    Getting a new dog today.

Lol. Been there, done that. I used to try and make my lab sleep on the floor, and I would wake up in the middle of the night with him looking at me with his head on the other pillow. I'd just call him a dork and go back to sleep.

    Getting a new dog today.

It's not happening. The owner called when he was almost here and said he couldn't stand the look on his daughters faces when he said Lulu was going to a new home. He was still very shaken up over the loss of his wife. We talked for about 15 minutes, and I told him he was doing the right thing...
