I'm not so sure that those indicators alone are enough to qualify as an "edge".

Learning to read Price Action with P&F Charting

In case anyone is curious, I exited MT when it was 86.04 and XTO when it was at 64.16. My rationale? I didn't want to think about what it was doing while I had classes ... next time will just institute trailing stops as Holy Grail prudently suggested.

Learning to read Price Action with P&F Charting

Good advice Holy Grail, and dentist/blue, and everyone else What do you guys think of increasing commitment after, say, a pullback of X% as long as the longer term trend is still intact? The only thing is that this would obviously increase my cost basis and if (please no) it gapped down I...

Learning to read Price Action with P&F Charting

Holy Grail, what do you think? Both of these entries were based on intra-day breakouts, and so my MT stop is 82.50 and my XTO stop is 62.50 I suppose since my entries were intra-day my exit should be as well?

Learning to read Price Action with P&F Charting

very true; both of these entries were based on intra-day breakouts, and I liked the longer-term movement of these stocks so I pulled the trigger. is this not a reliable way to enter these stocks? for now I'm just stepping into the water, but I'm thinking of trading intraday with ~5 ATM...

Learning to read Price Action with P&F Charting

Hey guys, I've been trying to keep up this great thread, and on Thursday I started experimenting with P&F setups for both intra-day and swing/position trading. What do you guys think of these entries: XTO at $63 MT at $83 <-- Late on the longer term breakout, was planning to trade this...

    Day-Trading with options?

I guess I'm the 1 in. 3:1; I started trading options almost 6 months ago and I am far from blown out ( I initially tried to keep a journal but didnt really gain a benefit from it nor was anyone really reading it) OP, while I do not have as much experience as others here , I'd suggest trading...

    Day-Trading with options?

That is pretty expensive. I'd suggest ThinkOrSwim or InteractiveBrokers. SPY options because of penny spread, some equity options have spreads as wide as 50 cents ... which of course will hurt you a lot over the long run unless you can somehow overcome that, again, in the long run.

How do I short student loan debt

it seems like all of the companies you listed have already been beaten down quite a bit, do you think they have further to do? i.e. with FMD there's not much left on the downside imo; with regard to STU, it may be helpful to take into account that they are a subsidiary of Citibank and take on...

yet another young trader with outrageous claims

For those of you who trade intra-day trends (such as breakouts) what duration bars do you use? I used 5-min today but it seems 15-min bars would be a little less stressfull and maybe less false signals?

yet another young trader with outrageous claims

Wow, long time away from trading. Made a couple of terrible trades last week which thankfully ended up breaking even. I wrote down my strategy on notepad and always have it open now so that I stick to my strategy and don't deviate (and hate myself later). I've looked into trading...

Yeah, I am going to be keeping it really simple.

Anyone competing in IB trader olympiad this year?

I'm registering. I am still a little confused as to whether we can use a program like OpenQuant or QuoteTracker to actually handle the logistics; and we only have to program the strategies themselves. Anyone know?

I was thinking about it, prize is a great incentive, haha. What was the performance of the top performers last year ?

Sounds good I'll definitely be looking into this this weekend. A measly $165 on the puts today, done for the day.

Hey, yes this was another reason I moved towards options, with stock this rule does apply, and so I could make only 3 day trades per 5 business day period. With options I can make as many trades as I have settled funds, but thanks for pointing this out. Also, I will look into trading the...
