Questions for ET QUANTS

cuants do "maths," not "math." everyone knows that. note the arrogace. truly it is "the revenge of the nerds." everyone watch genius fail, again (and again). Don't worry, the everyday guy ultimately pays for the flights of Daedalus. busted!

Best long plays: Oil, gold, corn, sugar, cotton, soybeans

really. I'd be embarrassed to call myself a prop trader. guess it's because I was one, and I know how they get treated, in general. but I could do without slurring of Mexicans.

    feeling like crap

usually when I make a good trade I know it's a good trade. And when it's dumb luck (a subtle difference) I know and take it. When I do something stupid, I don't hide it from myself. I think I really need to up my game. I'm not satisfied because I'm not really engaged, I think.

    What Was the Bullmarket Like?

What was the '90's bull market like? For me, it seemed like every chart pattern followed through, except on Fridays. It was like being Babe Ruth. Compared to the aftermath of 9/11, and what specialists did to DOT traders, it was like shooting fish in a barrel.

    feeling like crap

who else feels like crap after bad day. Even if it was just a mediocre day -- knowing you cut a trade too early, blew a position on a keyboard error, stood like a moose in the middle of the road while the opportunity took off without you, or took that one goofball trade the screwed you up...is...

    Niederhoffer new book

wow. WOW. I remember when chasinfla was the only person on this site who could find something good to say about Dr. Niederhoffer. This was, of course, way before the recent buzz, before his "comeback." This was back when he was a "loser" and Taleb was in the running to be God. Iggy Pop...

Lets hear from the successful shorts

the stock market looks about as awful as I've seen it in years. the monthly chart is a screaming sell. I sure hope it breaks to the upside, but I can't imagine how anyone can not be short, long term.

    Arbitrage Software

back in the day, they called this a money manager.
I love this 'information revolution." Put all the brokers out of business, because software allows you to "cut out the middleman." You know, the ones you cursed for all those years. Now you can do it yourself. And once you do...

    Bucket shop to prime

there are few people whose prose I admire, even fewer on ET. This is cool. Although I disagree that the world is fair. But it will be, one Day. *** About PB vs. retail, I can offer my opinion: the same way bucket shops differ from true brokerages. Bucket shops are tertiary markets.

I didn't read the links, but I share your skepticism. It's a good trait for a trader: buy the rumor, sell the news.
