    Hyper inflation

The others will nationalize their resources or increase exploitation taxes as prices rise. The trend has occurred before and will occur again. What is the oldest surviving paper currency, and what is its current value in relation to its value when it was first issued? At first they...

    Hyper inflation

I think hyper inflation here will be when OPEC and China don't want more dollars. Interest rates will rise, Oil goes to $200/bbl, Gold to $2000/oz, Gas to $10.00, bread to $3.00, milk $5.00, but wages stay low because global competition prevents anyone from being able to make anything here...

They said she had 800 odd portfolios. I guess that means they approve of it. Personally, I think if you have more than 1 portfolio, they should just average them together, and rank you based on the overall percentage increase.

    Hyper inflation

My purpose in the world is not to bash the dollar. I am NOT a goldbug. The first time I bought gold or a mining stock was in the spring of 05. Ok, Mr Steve, I'll explain it to ya. They print these dollars. They are backed by our "strong" economy. 77% of that GDP number they give us is...

    Hyper inflation

When nobody trusts your money, buying imports will be very painful. I believe Argentina had a similar end result, where foreign accounts were seized, things confiscated, and basically everyone made penniless in terms of real buying power. Keep in mind, we don't make much here anymore, and we...

    Hyper inflation

Just the fact that they are talking about doing it by 2010 tells me that I better be ready for it well before there. If things get nasty, they could move sooner, or if the dollar appears stable or they can't get ready in time, it might be later, but either way, I think it means the end of the...

    Larry Kudlow and Art Laffer..

There are some things they are right about, like the need to reduce the size of government, but what good does it do to be right about something that will never be done? As for the rest, they are fools and I hope their money becomes worthless first for the damage that the deficits, trade...

GM Boss: Toyota better be ready for a fight

The big 3 are done for by the end of 2008, IMO. Gas is already $3.00 in California, and its still winter. By 4th of July demand will be up and so will the price. $3.50 or $4.00? How many SUV's and other guzzlers will they sell with gas up there? Remember 1979 when Chrysler had lot...

    Hyper inflation

As I recall, imported goods rose in price very quickly in the early 80's, to the point where if you sold a 1 yr old used Mercedes you could sell it for more than you paid for it. Food is going to jump dramatically this year because we'll be using it all to make ethanol to burn in our SUV...

Fed can not let dollar fall

Saving what, though? Saving dollars is a self defeating exercise. They print more faster than interest gets paid, so your "savings" disappear over time. And when the other CB's decide they absolutely won't take any more dollars, then you'll wish you hadn't saved them. The big...

    What gives with mortgage rates??

They are desperate to lend money to someone, but NOW it needs to be someone that can pay it back, too, so they are even more desperate. If they don't lend it to anyone, they can't make ANY interest. So they try to lend a lot to make up for the spread.

    My Simple CNBC Strategy

If you're #6 and not making a killing in the real world (ie you NEED to win), it sounds like you must not actually own the stuff you're playing. You might make 20% one day on one stock catching a dead cat bounce, but its only lady luck that you didn't see a bankruptcy filing and a BIG FAT ZERO...

Fed can not let dollar fall

Its no problem if its doomed. They can always print more. And if people don't like the old ones, they can print newer, better ones, or even ones that are coins that look like gold. Pretty soon they'll need to make them out of sand or clay so the materials won't cost so much.

Newest Estimate: Subprime Woes May 'Wipe Out' 30% to 50% of Home Sales in 2007/2008

Its at least 20%, even if it affects nobody else.

Mortgage Defaults Will ADD 500,000 Homes To Unsold Homes Inventory

We are noplace near bottom. In the spring, which is THE home selling season, people won't be able to get loans to buy at costs they can afford entry level homes, given that 20% of the buyers have been "subprime". That means 20% fewer buyers. 20% fewer buyers means more price reductions to...

Fidelity Active Trader Pro - Major Issues

Yeah, if you trade more than 1,000 shares at a time the commissions kill whatever profit you thought you had. I think the delays this last week were everywhere, not just Fidelity. I was watching the trades go thru for 4 or 5 min after I entered a QID buy order and mine never went thru even...

Need new broker to replace Fidelity

Surely there must be others here that trade large qtys of shares besides me? Looks like Etrade might work. If you have over $50k in the account they just charge a flat fee per trade. Does that mean per trade or per order, I wonder? If I enter a 10,000 share order and I buy shares from 4...
