    Weird can anybody explain?

unfortunately I think you have a lot more money to lose to learn, I suggest you study the greeks more and how they change based on what happens...options on the vix are actually the volatility of volatility so it's not that simple...volatility still matters. You didn't really mention what calls...

Option skew in crude seems excessive

skew is simply the vol slope for otm options where is an otm (out of the money) option trading in relation to the at the money in vol terms...example atm is 30%vol otm call is 40% and otm put is 50% the otm put has a higher skew than the otm call...you could assume people want the puts more...

    Why?!

the moment u stop listening to cnbc or even putting that channel on the moment your life will be that much better. RBOB Crack Spreads

when the producers come in they move markets, I would think many trades being on the side of the producers or hedgers or whoever it is is usually a good idea. Especially seasonally if they come in every year and do it. But of course sometimes the macro market takes over such as last year when...

    WebICE

RCG allows it, I use it once in a while mostly just to see depth in the market since it has all the depth up and down the ladder. There is no actual ladder though so very tough to day trade on. There is a fee if you don't make any trades in a month I believe it's the data fee which would be...

1256 contracts that I know of do not apply to stock options or etf options. I trade commodities and used 1256 contracts but am pretty sure it would not work for you, there are many websites online that explain this.

When you do spreads, how do you handle expiration?

roll it to whatever you want to roll it to: if you are trading m/n in crude and u are long m/n just sell m buy 2 n and sell q (futures butterfly) if that is indeed what you want to do... you might not want to be long n/q though so it really depends...you might want to be short n/q so in that...
