    Netpicks Ultimate Trading Machine

Hi Austin, Thanks for your posts and positive contribution to ET. I enjoy reading your thoughts. However, I disagree with your statement that you need a 2:1 RR to be successful in daytrading the ES. It depends on your style. I find 1:1 entries (worst case scenario) are fine as long as...

If you put the time and effort in to read his old posts you would know these answers. He goes into detail how he actually trades. As always, people looking for shortcuts from actually doing the work themselves.

Hi Maria, I have enjoyed some of your posts. So, thanks for contributing to ET. ET has pretty much seemed the same to me in my last few years of membership. 90% of what is written is probably not worth the effort to read. However, in the other 10% there is still invaluable trading...

    Scott Barlow

I was reading this book the other day that had interviews with Australia's top traders. I was rather interested in an interview with Scott Barlow, a well known FX trader in Sydney. His method fascinated me. Why? His edge was entirely his risk management model. He didn't even make his...

I think Spike's system and his approach are an inspiration to all ES daytraders. Spike's prior posts helped me a lot (without him knowing it) in finding a profitable system to daytrade the ES. How did he help? I just reflected on his posts that the most important thing is to find a...

I won't address any of the negative aspects of this thread as we could keep going around in circles on that. I am partly responsible for the negative dialogue as I probably shouldn't have called Mike's post silly, on reflection. However, I stand by all of my other comments. Here's my take...

Hi Tom. I used to work on the order desk of a futures brokerage and trust me, most retail traders trade without a clue. Just by reading this thread you are really far ahead of most retail traders. The volume on the ES is nearly 1m contracts a day, that is a lot of traders and a lot of...

ET is a forum whereby people give opinions on trading (or had you missed that?). I didn't realise the self appointed God of Trading, MSchey, had to approve people before they could post an opinion on trading? Whether my opinion is good or bad is not for me to judge, but for the readers to make...

    Position sizing

I wasn't going to post on this thread again. The reason being when dealing with people like Mschey you have to understand he is always right. And the more you respond critically the more he will escalate the personal attacks. A couple of observations about that individual: (1) He claims he...

Quoting my words? I think not. Please read my last post careful and the one prior to that. I said trading futures is a losing game overall. That means the majority of people lose. That is a fact. You then made various assumptions based on what you interpreted me as saying, not what I...

    Position sizing

Thank you for your kind words. I have spent plenty of time studying money management, thank you for your concern. Actually, no assumption at all about eventually losing. I merely stated a statistical fact, that trading futures overall is a loser's game. Otherwise 90%+ wouldn't lose would...

I think it is rather silly to say you pay a heavy price for being too conservative. What price is that? If you are playing a net losers game how can being too conservative ever be a bad thing? If you are consistent over the long run that is really the only thing that matters. I would rather...

    Trading the Pivots

A couple of points: 1. Just because a technique or tool may not work for you doesn't mean it doesn't work for someone else. Most traders who have tried something and can't get it to work for themselves assume incorrectly that it doesn't work. 2. All tools or techniques are essentially...

I am the same. ES only since 2003. During that time lots of other traders have chopped and changed, but I always remain the same. I think there is something to be said for consistency and becoming an expert in your market or specialising in one market. However, I do know some...

    Trading the Pivots

Observation: just because you don't see the value doesn't mean it is not there. I can assure you there is value and many traders benefit from it. If you want to learn more I suggest you read some Nihab threads. The "ET Master of Candlestick Analysis" IMHO.

This has nothing to do with your system parameters. It is purely a psychological problem. I had a similar problem for a while, after a few ticks I wanted to close a position. So, what you need to do is to think up ways of coping with these feelings that enable you to do the right thing by the...

    Trading the Pivots

This seems rather silly advice. If you feel you must trade you probably are a beginner or not a very good trader. If you aren't sure you simply should not trade. Only trade when you have an edge. Cheers.

    Trading the Pivots

Quite right. But if your system does not lose too much or is flat to a small profit during these sessions it will be a pretty good system. :) There's always an upside.

I used to be a long term trader as well. Actually, when I had a break from daytrading the ES it was because I gave up daytrading. I thought I didn't have the mental abilities nor did I want to waste my time spent stuck in front of the screen all day. As I was a successful longer term trader I...

Very surprised with this comment. There has been slow volume, but you are still getting usually 100 contracts at the bid or ask at the very minimum. If your order isn't getting filled at the time there's a simple answer. Cancel the limit and go to the market and miss 1-2 ticks at the most.
