It's not hard to come up with a system that is profitable in the long run. But drawdown is usually a problem. Optimizing to breakeven will likely reduce profitability, but increase consistency if diversified over multiple timeframes. You're not going to get rich quick trading.

You don't know. The internet is full of people pretending to be someone else. I would guess that most of the people here have multiple aliases. But go ahead and keep on trading, we need the liquidity.

Or not disciplined enough maybe. ~~~ My answer to the original question: Diversify your system. Trade more than one instrument using a different time-frame. Example trade the ES with a choppy system and the NQ with trending system. Optimize them both at break-even.

Thanks everyone... do any of you use WealthLAB? I wonder if it's faster than TS6? I havn't given up on Tradestation yet... It's not an issue of cost, whatever the requirements are, I'll buy it! ;-)

Does anyone know how to speed up optimization on TradeStation 6? What is the determining factor of speed... CPU, RAM, Network, TradeStation servers?

I compare the trading profession to that of Doctors and Pilots. Either you can take it or you can't. Trading (futs especially) is Life or Death for your account balance, if you're in doubt my advise is change professions now!

No, you understood me right... A very good point. How might it be possible to trade this system then? Is it legal to trade the same instrument from several different accounts? Maybe other instruments like options?

I'm with ElCubano on this one: I can whip up a profitable system that "keeps it simple" but requires a huge amount of capitol (for drawn down). Also requires robotic discipline to withstand the draw-down. Winning is easy, but who can REALLY stomach large losses financially and emotionally...

I've been in Hawaii for the last 3 weeks trading. On OAHU DSL was identical to service in California. Now on KAUAI, using DIAL-up. I don't scalp anymore, so dial-up is fine for me. (It's the web surfing that really suffers from no DSL.) (DSL is available in KAUAI I told, just not installed...

Read lots of books, let your passion take over from there. (See "books" section here on ET.) If your not passionate enough (read: compulsive) about trading, you will fail anyway.

Aphie If you spend half as much time working on your system (maybe you do, I don't know) as you do posting here... I would say you have a better than average chance in this business. :D

1.) I trade every signal my system gives. It's an averages game for me. Few big winners must outweigh the loosers. Holding out for the big winners (read: exit) is the key to my system. 2.) I don't know about that. Maybe given an unlimited time-frame... Unless you consider "manage it...
