Transfering money from a canadian bank to the US?

I'm looking to transfer some money for a trading account from a canadian bank(CIBC) into a US bank and before I can do that I need to convert into USD. The fee however is 2cents, which is huge. That amount can easily add up and eat up. I was wondering how do the other canadian traders do it?

Give advice to a young buck...

I get the feeling that in Canada financial adviser is reserved for people in their 30s and up. You also need a designation. btw: I don't believe McGill is good for its economics department. Not that it matters I go to York.

Why to short the Canadian Dollar

But exports have really been hit lately by a more than 25% increase in the dollar. At some point the story will start to change, exports won't forever prop the dollar up. Either way the trend is downwards for the CDN.

ALL MAJOR USA investment banks...INSOLVENT RISK VERY HIGH

Do you have any concept of asset inflation? Some builders build a house and sell it to me for $300,000. I transfer $300,000 from me(thru a bank etc) to them. Yay the economy works! But then tomorrow the house is only worth $200,000. Where did the $100,000 go? Irrational exuberance...

High oil prices actually stabilize the dollar?

I guess you could say in nominal terms the dollar has more $$ demanded but its value isn't going up. Mostly only the US has to pay higher gas prices, the other currencies have all appreciated against the dollar. So in the end they use the same amount of their money to buy more shiny american...
