I would never register to a forum asking my credit card info. What I encountered on the web are sites refusing free email accounts registration (yahoo, hotmail, etc..). That prevents a lot of abuse right there imo.

yes, usually a black box is a mechanical system one does not know the inside logic in details (general strategy may be public).
