Anyone know where to get Realtime CDS graphs

Are you joking or are you serious? Granted - I left CDS trading about a year ago to do rates trading instead, but back then MarkIt was the EOD marking provider. Futher, I can't see how it can be 'real-time' since it's based on dealer quote contributions (+ some 'data cleaning algorithm'). The...

Anyone know where to get Realtime CDS graphs

MarkIt is EOD, not real time. For real time, your only option is to if you do business with the counterparties who trade these, at which point you will be given runs and updates.

    Corporate bonds

Well.... they can - in which case they are in default; They'll need to seek chapter 11 protection to stay off the creditors. Seniority and priority only matters in terms of liquidation, which is complicated by the bankruptcy process. In anycase, the OP's question is idiotic.

Is FX the most manipulated market ?

    (1) Central banks participate in the FX market to effect monetary policy. They are not profit maximizing. They are not trading. They are there to move the market in a direction of their choosing. If you want to call this manipulation (I suppose it is), then obviously the FX market is...

Final Round Hedge Fund Interview Question

you can always buy bond and short equity for a standard capital structure arb play. The hedging ratio is tricky. You can also buy stock and buy CDS protection as an opposite play. This will depend on whether you think bond is more overvalued (against its peers on a LIBOR spread basis) than equity.

    Selling Bond Coupons

And you can't strip AA bonds. Only treasury bonds are stripped on any kind of regular basis; The OP could also potentially be talking about asset swaps... but those aren't available to retail clients - it's also fairly pointless for non-institutional players.

South Korea Tracks North Korean Submarines

I'm very bearish on china in general but this is a pretty implausible scenario, no? The chinese military structure is centralized (given their experience with generals becoming warlords back in the 20s). Furthermore, the generals don't have any axe to grind when it comes to korea. The old guard...

    Is this option an arbitrage?

Also... if these options are bespoke enough that you can't novate, and bespoke enough that you can pick two dealers off - then how in hell are you getting them to quote you a two-way market?

    Is this option an arbitrage?

Can't you invoke Novation so that you the two dealers face each other? Also, can't you net the positions in terms of margin? I assume you are looking to trade these under ISDA right?

How do you construct a portfolio of trading strategies, instead of securities?

Can't - the Austrian School doesn't contain much of testable hypothesis that can be used as constraints or objectives. The Austrian School is a collection of (interesting) qualitative statements that aren't sufficient to form a scientific (that is, falsifiable) theory. Flamewar starts in...

How do you construct a portfolio of trading strategies, instead of securities?

Glad to see there are people on ET who have actually done some work... yes - mv optimization is very sensitive to inputs. This is a result of an implied 100% confidence in those expected return and var/covar numbers. In reality, we are never 100% certain of our forecasts (be it based on...

    Intro to the yield curve

Another point to consider - bond managers usually hedge their corporate bond and mortgage purchases by selling treasuries at the matched duration point. They don't actually have to short sell (most of the time), but either through selling the naturally existing inventory of treasuries they are...

Is there a way to automate Bloomberg?

There's a huge set of APIs for both DDE (with Excel) and .Net; Are you not able to do anything with those?

    What's wrong with Austrian Economics???

I guess it's easy to argue your point when you completely ignore the huge volume of literature that empirically tests all those theories you so disdain - and also completely ignore the fact that not all economists agree with those theories and have worked for the last 20 years showing those...

    What's wrong with Austrian Economics???

REally? (I don't know about him), but almost all the mainstream economists I met when I did my phd were quite open and willing to discuss the short comings the our dismal science. The critiques are there. They are well known. But they are often not the "popular" critiques that people throw...

    What's wrong with Austrian Economics???

four semesters of calculus... well, then - you clearly have the sufficiently knowledge base to judge... you may want to look up the difference between a sufficient and a necessary precondition. it's easy enough to point out the "problems" of mainstream economics. Hell, mainstream economists...

    What's wrong with Austrian Economics???

This isn't what I (or science) meant by "tested" (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Testability and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scientific_hypothesis) What you are doing is essentially a perfect example of unscientific method of reasoning - you take a bunch of experiences and try to induce...

    What's wrong with Austrian Economics???

The problem with Austrian economics is that it's not falsifiable and thus fails the criterion of being "scientific". It has the same problem as Freudian psychology - attractively intuitive, somewhat descriptive, not at all testable

    Fundamental analysis doesn't work

How are you testing fundamental analysis with computer programs? True fundamental analysis requires more than playing with a few price and earning ratios. It's about going out and talking to the company's owners, employees, vendors, peers, etc. If you are just testing a few buying/selling rules...
