    Currency futures vs currency

it would be tough to coordinate execution between a limit order driven exchange like Globex and the fragmented world of spot. Also if an arb is that obvious, why should it still work? Most arbitrage trades have a broader fundamental cause. Easier coin to be made elsewhere IMO.

How Much Stop Loss Are Appropriate?

How you pick stops should depend on what kind of price movement you're trying to catch (trend or mean reversion?). Once you figure that out it's as easy as picking a price level that violates that price pattern (say you're trading an uptrend, it's not going to be an uptrend if it makes a lower...

Fast HFT FX Order Execution on IB

I'd just go for a broker that has a better reputation for low latency rather than messing with the strategy. Out of curiosity, what made you choose EURUSD for HFT? Unless you're trying to scalp on a miniscule time frame, wouldn't a less liquid market give more opportunity to an HFT?

So say you do find a Holy Grail Method...

Live like a bum and compound that 4% per month for however long you need to. Actions speak louder than words, what other people think of you doesn't do anything for your P&L.

Mean-reverting strategies are really much better than momentum strategies?

I really like the idea of using both. Personally I like to wait and see what happens when price has regressed (does it trade through and regress again? Does it reverse violently? Does it start making trending highs and lows on larger volume? Etc.). My view is that price hits a speed bump put...

TopstepTrader and Patak Trading Partners- Any and all questions answered here

If a trader passes the combine and advances to a live account, are they still required to adhere to the TST rules (no overnight positions, no back months etc.)? I'd like to swing trade energy spreads and currencies in addition to my intraday outright trading (although the combine would be...

Just out of curiosity what products do you trade and what's your general style? I'm also in 'limbo' between the 9-5 and full time trading. I trade futures outright intraday and position trade currencies.

Reduce potential stress before you even start, such as having more than enough in the bank to live off, a nice amount of margin in your trading account, and proven live trading skills. A good hobby couldn't hurt either.

What does it mean to "move stop to break even"

'Break Even' would technically be the level where your PL is zero, but it's frequently meant as entry price or average position price. I love this risk management play, free money!

Where do you trend followers sell??

That's pretty much it. 3 birds with 1 stone; realize profits, maintain a position, and defend your account when price is moving against your view.

Where do you trend followers sell??

If it breaks a previous S/R level I cut my position in half and adjust my stops to my average entry price.

Trend Following: Profitable Reality or an Illusion doomed to Failure?

Trend-like chart patterns emerge in all kinds of data. If you trade on technicals I truly believe that you can tailor your strategy to exploit trending data points. Your risk management approach should also address 'shutting off' your trend following strategy when market data isn't following a...

    How to build a blackbox?

Sounds like you need to learn data mining. Plenty of resources out there on it, you just need to be willing to put the time and money in because the competition has lots of both.

Do full-time forex traders exist or is it just make believe?

I agree at retail FX trading puts traders at a disadvantage because you are trading with your broker, they want to make money and you want to make money, but they definitely have the information and technology edge over any retail FX trader, things go as normal when they think they are at an...

    Binary Options Questions

Binary options trading is basically sports betting but with price movement. Also your 'brokerage' is taking the other side of your bet, so I don't see it as actually trading anything other than your time and money for the illusion of trading. I'd take that 5 grand and work towards developing...

Market Correlation - What is It?

Yes I do believe that markets can be correlated. My take on it is that when institutional traders take macro economic positions they trade a variety of similar instruments that they believe will reflect their view. By using similar instruments they can break up their order which reduces the...

No Reason To Participate in This Crap

I'm not going to contribute anything productive but just wanted to say that it always goes right over my head when someone refers to a market as 'crap' (or any other variety of synonyms). As far as I know the markets don't have to do anything but match buyers and sellers, which it does pretty...

Does The Market Owe You Money?

The market is just a facility where buyers and sellers meet up and trade, how can it owe you anything?

    The hard road to consistency

I'm trying hard to get rid of any attitude when I'm attempting to enter or exit a position. Just complete focus on what is unfolding in front of me.
