Successfully traded NYSE for 8 years - moving into Forex

FX can be a tough nut to crack. If you intend to trade on an intraday basis you should pay attention to market openings and overlaps, that's where you'll find the high volume consistently. It can also be an extremely efficient market, stay on top of economic data releases. I'd recommend...

Explain This Price/Volume Action - CL

I've noticed similar activity in NG as well (higher volume prior to trend pull backs and reversals). My guess for the causes behind this are that liquidity providers (sellers in this instance) are at a more profitable level and offer out more of their inventory, buy stops set by short traders...

    Any good volume profile material?

Just overlay the profiles on historical data, it should be pretty self evident. Pick a time frame for the profiles (I like option expiry) and then mark the high points and low points of each obvious volume clusters from the previous time frame and see what happens.

    Crowdfund a trading account?

could work if you trade for charity, but you'd probably have to disclose what you're doing to convince people to invest.

Reminiscences of a Stock Operator - General Conditions

Don't forget that Livermore allegedly traded commodities in addition to stocks, so my guess as to what he means by 'general conditions' is determining what market has the most active price drivers, an example might be that a drought will cause a more lucrative trend in grains than might exist in...

what is your trading style?and which trading style you think will better?

It's just a contemporary form of market making. Don't you think floor locals and stock specialists used their proximity to the order flow to their advantage back in the day when the majority of volume passed through them? Anyway...I trade trade intraday to manage risk and hold positions for...

    Starting capital/ grubstake

I think it's a bit more general than whether their accounts were inherited or self generated, it comes down to the basics of discipline and money management (the lack of which indicates a non professional trader). Trading with a small account is fine as long as you're goal is to have small...

Would This Information Help You In Trading

    1. Yes, mainly in OTC markets. 2. A general example would be removing risk prior to the close of a market or before a scheduled economic number is released. The impact on prices depends on whether the market is net long or short that day and how nervous the traders are going into that event.

Would This Information Help You In Trading

In my opinion you can only get an edge from that if you know who you're trading with, but the problem is if they're that informed why would they make their motives that obvious? You can come up with a system for assuming the motivation (e.g. the market is has rallied on light data, what do...

unless it gapped on both legs your stops would have been hit, no? Couldn't that be avoided by using price activated market orders? Hedge trades?

The top 3 guys who make over 1 million a year at my firm...

Thanks for giving such good insight into how successful spreaders operate. Can you give us any more colour on the outright traders at your firm? I'm curious to know whether they fall under the market maker or directional category more.

I want to trade futures... oh and I'm 17

I started when I was 17, just turned 20 and I'm still at it. I trade FX futures. Finally saved up enough living expenses to spend 6 months trading full time, going to see where I'm at in May and either continue full time or go to university. Start by learning how markets work rather...

    Edge

Really there are only 2 kinds of 'edge'; information and latency. Latency is obvious, if you can hold off and wait for more reliable information and still beat everyone to the trade you're golden, this is probably the most expensive and competitive edge. Information edge is the real grey area...
