Yet, there seems to be more abuse of power by the US Government than by the others. If we moved towards a Presidency in Australia, I'm sure it would simply be a position that simply replaces the Queen (in reality the Governor General, an Australian) as Head of State.

Thanks. If I understand you correctly, you're basically saying I should have ridden the second trade maybe as high as S2? That makes perfect sense looking back at it (the trend is still there), as the trend hadn't finished, and if it was to continue I'd only be getting back in anyway. I'm...

More women needing cash go from jobless to topless

You're joking right? Tougher economic conditions lead to the market being saturated by women - those that lost jobs, those that didn't have jobs, and those that divorced or dumped their well-to-do men. Most women who think in superficial terms have no idea of their true value, which is much...

A bunch of early trades - I think this morning highlights to me that some days will be far more productive than others. First trade I got in at 784.25, which I feel was a couple of ticks too late. Usually I like to move my stop to B/E reasonably quickly, but here I decided to give it full...

And I think it's amusing how the US tends to put their president on a pedestal. With all of the glamour, security etc, he's treated like a king. I doubt that's what the US Founding Fathers had in mind, but then I doubt much of what exists today is what they had in mind.

I'm Australian and prefer the parliamentary system, if only just to get away from the overhyped wank that is the presidential election, and for a smaller (cheaper) government. Both systems are flawed, as like any other system they're only as good as the politicians in power, and as we know...

    Mr J's Journal

Nothing much today. Below is a 3000 volume bars for the ES, and looking back it doesn't seem to have been a day that would suit my trading style, and I didn't really try to trade it. I took a short at the red vertical line at 778.25 and was stopped out 779.5 (swing high wicked to 779.25)...

Any US brokers that allow mini futures?

IB offers a roundtrip for $4.80 US, or about $7 AU. Obviously doesn't help if you don't want to trade the full ES, but it does show that commissions are high. Still minimal compared to trading Aussie shares though.

how can traders scalp for profits of 2 ticks?

Scalping out a profit of 2 ticks is different that aiming to do so. I imagine 2 tick profits are simply trades that didn't work out, but just moved enough to allow the trader to lock in a little.

Yet another Journal. I'm pretty new to trading and I'll be using this thread to get my strategy and thoughts out there in the open. This will allow me to analyse my actions with complete honesty, and maybe others will post thoughts or advice. For now I'm keeping my trading strategy simple and...

How little capital could you make a living off?? ;)

I can't point to specific examples, but you're far from the first. Variance alone tells me this, and then there are the many stories. It's also not exclusive to trading, I've seen many poker players (specific examples) that have run up a large account and not able to sustain it. It doesn't...

How little capital could you make a living off?? ;)

A lot of people have done that and not been successful over the longterm. Where's the other 29k? You couldn't have spent that much. You hope to do it again. You're obviously trading at very aggressive levels, and like I said before it won't take much for it to come undone. You aren't given...

How little capital could you make a living off?? ;)

5k GBP is enough, 1k is not. As long as you're doing it with ~1k, you're only attempting to do it. I'm going to guess you need to make at least that a month to pay for your expenses. I'm guessing you have to be reasonably aggressive with that amount of capital, so all it takes is a little...

How little capital could you make a living off?? ;)

There are enough opportunities throughout the day and night to not need to push trades. That's a matter of dicipline, not capital. Greater capital should bring greater comfort, as there's a great buffer. If your capital drops from 500k to 250k, it's a big hit but you should still be comfortable...

Need 6 monitors, new setup, will this work?

Which site? It's been a while since I played, but even Pokerstars let you run 4 on a monitor. I'm guessing six monitors is complete overkill unless you plan to 40 table or something. Poker forum didn't answer you? If it's not 2+2, then join 2+2. Plenty of people there with multi monitor experience.

How little capital could you make a living off?? ;)

5k of what? USD, GBP? 5k of either could scrape together enough to survive off of, but I'd hardly call it living. Under 1k, you're not doing it, you're attempting to do it. You may build that back up to a reasonable amount, but you'd be lucky to do so, as it requires taking unreasonable risks...
