Need help with a Pair Trade XOM - CVX

Hey Bigbiscuit. I' not selling anything. I have no idea what C2 or PTE daily is? Do you? Kind of curious since it relates to XOM/CVX. Anyway. CVX reported today. Solid numbers, but XOM is actually outperforming CVX a small tad today, but most importantly, the correlation remains in...

Need help with a Pair Trade XOM - CVX

"Yobo, there is a guy on C2 running this pair in a system. It's called PTE Daily I think. Are you he?" No I am not that guy. Don't know what C2 is or never heard of PTE daily. I'm an independent trader in Portland ME.

Need help with a Pair Trade XOM - CVX

Thanks for that response. Very insightful and I think you are right on about your assumptions concerning the academic paper. THe one flaw I have with being long xom and short CVX is that fundamentally on a valuation basis, the data indicates be long CVX as that is the better value play...

Need help with a Pair Trade XOM - CVX

Trade and learn...well that is what I am doing. I am sticking with the pair because even the though the spread has been increasing, the positive correlation remains in tact. Positive correlation reffering to the fact that if one stock trades down, the other trades down and vice versa. The...

Need help with a Pair Trade XOM - CVX

THanks for the response. Was wondering if anyone would offer feedback. Here's a clip from an academic paper regarding pair trades and returns: Abstract: This paper examines the impact of accounting information events (i.e., earnings announcements and analysts’ earnings forecasts) on...

    Pairs Trading...

Curious to know if anyone is trading the XLE and USO as a pair. The spread is getting interesting today and getting to a point where you want to short the USO and go long the xle. Unfortunately, my broker won't allow me to short. Curious if any Bright traders have access to short...

TSL beginning to get favorable comments from analysts...

Stock is green today amongst the blood bath based on an upgrade from Cowen. A few days ago, ZACKs also upgraded the stock. Check it out, heavily shorted and easy victim to a short squeeze.

    So. Cal. Prop Firms

Hey Don, Quick question. Do you allow your traders to trade equity options? Specifically, in this market environment where volitility is the underlying theme, trading long option straddles and strangles has proven to be very successful for me. Can traders leverage up to a million with...

    pairs trading

Been following this thread and find it very relevant to the recent volitility in the market over the last few days. Many rumours floating out there that some of the big quant hedge funds that trade pairs based on all the historical data from the past 45 years on companies have been blowing...

Did someone blow out at Bright?

So why does bright not allow traders to trade stocks over $100. If you are gonna scalp, than you need to trade higher priced stocks. Going after nickels and dimes and playing between the bid and ask is silly.
