    The Welfare State

Implementing means testing is outrageous if there is no option to opt out of Social Security. Essentially, you will be telling some people to "contribute" to the system even though they will never see a penny of their money.

“An Entire Generation May Now Look At The Stock Market As A Losing Proposition."

I mostly agree with the article except for this part. Small companies do not rely on the financial markets to obtain equity financing because of the fact that they are private. You might argue that "small" in this article refers to companies with a market cap of $100 million to $1 billion...

'The Story of Stuff' - Prove Her Wrong

Mister_doodi, you're absolutely correct. She obviously can't tell the difference between DDR2 800 and DDR2 533 memory or a Core 2 Quad 9450 and Core i7 920 for that matter . They may all "look" the same, but there has been much technological progress every year in computers.

    Ron Paul says it perfectly

Do you mean David Faber? I haven't heard Marc Faber give commentary on Ron Paul's speeches but I would think that he would generally be positive about Paul since the two share similar views.

News: General Motors Bankruptcy Probable as Obama Favors UAW Union Over Lenders

IMO, the government is only shooting itself in the foot by choosing to ignore decades of precedence when it comes to the priority of creditors in bankruptcy. Investors will look at this and choose not to participate in the public private partnership the government is promoting right now if the...

Social Security Sinking Us Sooner Than Thought

Pabst, could you elaborate on why deflation can be a good thing? It may be good for indivduals, but I think it would be disastrous for the U.S. as a whole. Since the U.S. is a debtor nation, my assumption is that the government would see deflation as a huge problem because it would make it...
