ES, CL "market" or "limit" orders to enter position?

I trade natgas futures for an energy co. I do watch crude as we are sometimes lead by crude complex. Crude is being supported by the products at the moment, specifically heating oil as that is the closest futures contract to diesel, which is where the shortage is in the complex. As soon...

ES, CL "market" or "limit" orders to enter position?

in my world (energy trading) we use the phrase "don't be a dick for a tick". If you want to get in or out, don't lose opportunity or money jockeying for a tick or two. Stick with market orders in a liquid market like those.

Greenspan Says U.S. Home Prices May Stabilize in 2008

From true experts, they predict the end of this in 2011. "But on a note of optimism, Burns notes the housing market is extremely cyclical. We have had times of extreme distress before, which typically last 3-5 years, and this one too shall pass. Burns projects that sales should be higher...

    Japanese Bank Losses

What the article doesn't say in its risk statement is that there is also risk in whatever you invested in, seperate from the currency exposure. In their example, the jap bank loans at cheap rate and borrower takes into another country and invests it in a higher yeilding bond. The part they...

    someone explain to me how

Look up Credit Default Swaps. The counterparty risks were so large that a bear bankruptcy at a time when everyone else is on the brink themselves would have dragged others over the cliff. Think of the banking system as a group of moutaineers, they are all tied together.

    Japanese Bank Losses

Wondering if the Jap government could even bailout their institutions. Doesn't take alot of imagination to play out how they could be completely insolvent in bad debt. I bet this is the next hammer to fall.

    Japanese Bank Losses

With the Carry trade from Japan, how come there have not been any reported losses from them when everyone else is getting tagged? My gut says they are hiding losses out of the Japanese sense of pride. NO WAY can you be a lender to the rest of the world for carry's, and not get caught up in the...

I'm FULLY CONVINCED that the market has finally recovered

we're way beyond 1990 Mak. We had the dawn of the internet in the 90's as well to fuel a whole new technological growth boom. Also, people had savings and excess disposable income to buy all that new gadgetry. take an ongoing neg savings rate and add this picture to it and tell me where...

I'm FULLY CONVINCED that the market has finally recovered

What is dooming that wasn't there in the past is the levels of debt, both on a consumer level, and gov. level. That is a structurally different look than what we have faced in many decades.

Another Day In the ENRON Economy

Figured this would be funny to revisit as a log in a few years. Will post the best Enron Economy from yesterday to start out. UBS Loses 12 billion, writes down 19 billion, CEO resignes, Fitch and S&P cut ratings a notch and keep it on negative watch and................It trades up 15% on...

I'm FULLY CONVINCED that the market has finally recovered

Funny, Over the last several weeks, I have come across several bulls at different party's/function's. I have asked them exactly this, "where is the growth going to come from". Not a single one could answer that question. It is just a pavlov dog response to always be bullish I guess. I...

    Bottom was 17th march

There is one little miniscule part of the equation of all your "valuations" that is missing. Please explain where the consumer spending will come from. Last I checked, they have not been helped one ioata in all this mess, but have had the benefit of paying alot more for just about everything...
