    Wine - long/short?

darkhorse- "cisco"! holy crap , didn't they ban that stuff back in the early 90's? I remember drinking that stuff before a Nine Inch Nails show in NYC back in 1990 i think it was. That stuff is dangerous.

Are there any Jim Rogers' fans here?

I like him too but you have to wonder what he was thinking in his vehicle choice for the trip. Yeah, mercedes is cool, but a 2 seater with that trailer? Seems like a dumb choice to me.

    Home alone vs office

I'm torn between the two...I've been trading from home for the past year and a half. never traded from an office, but have visited a few. It does seem like it would be nice to have other people around to call out things and to pass the time during slow days/lunch time etc . you also have to...

    Staying in longer

Try thinking about baseball. or big ugly women. but seriously, have a plan and stick to it...sometimes I'll set my stops and physically get up and do something else.

    prop firms and etfs

janko- here's the deal....you can trade them at worldco..but you can only trade them on island if you have Nasdaq clearance. so then you're stuck using the exchange which seems to be too slow for the qqq/spy.... I don't work there..but thats the word I got from someone who does.

    shorting

IKH- i had the long only disease too...you have to get rid of it. I was a broker and thats all you ever learn there..even now when I hangout with my old broker buddies they always ask, "what are you buying?" Thats the culture... find out why you're taking long positions...are they breaking...

    Tough question, looking for truth

vinny- reserve orders yes. everything else, no...but they said they will add it. my biggest problem is not having stops for nasdaq...i like to trade nas...but not without being able to place stops...the main reason is for ISP protection...like today, my ISP was out for 20minutes thankfully...

    Tough question, looking for truth

vinny- some positives about ARCA are: reserve orders, stops on nasdaq, trailing stops(but that depends on your broker...my new one doesn't offer that..and I'm not happy about it) some negatives are: sometimes the orders don't get executed even if you're inside...and they don't show on...

    Tough question, looking for truth

could be...but in my experience at two firms(one retail and one pro) the only time I have ever had a problem has been when I used a specific ECN(ARCA). The pro firm I'm with now provides lightning fast executions. I'm not promoting them, I won't even name the firm...but sometimes after I make a...

    A no-brainer day!

Today reminded me so much of the reversal day back in late September...except a big winner for me then was JNPR.....does anyone see any big differences? The a/d line looked ok, but not great...

    Bright Vs Echo

lol....and he loves to attack other cats, dogs, people. The past few days I've been training him to attack a certain guy that posted here a few days ago. What I've been doing is not showering in the morning...wearing a beret, yelling at him in a freak accent , "Oui! Oui! bite me cat! IB sold...

Have you ever been threatened by Interactive Brokers ? Yes, we did

TraderJim- glad you liked it. here's another: What did the Mayor of Paris say to the German Army as they entered during WWII? "Table for One Hundred Thousand?".

Have you ever been threatened by Interactive Brokers ? Yes, we did

Why don't they have fireworks at Euro Disney? Because every time they shoot them off, the French try to surrender

Have you ever been threatened by Interactive Brokers ? Yes, we did

it seems to me that they did answer your questions. IB had every right to close your position. I'm sure it didn't have anything to do with the French not letting us use the airspace during the gulf war or anything like that. Good luck. and by you bringing this up, now I willopen an acct...

    Worst market ever?

Don- I don't think anyone is "whining' or complaining that the market is going down....just that it can be boring and tight on days....and today from 11-3 was pretty boring(for me anyway). I do the open only plays almost every morning...and it's great if you have the envelope set right..get a...

    Worst market ever?

i got one scalp on (TJX)....had lunch..put my feet up on the window sill and actually nodded off for 5minutes...yikes! should have hit the driving range.(but then the market would have had a 300point range):)

    Daytrading the SPY or QQQ...?

daytradernyc- i understand what you're saying..and I'm with a pro firm and doing this for a living so I too know the importance of cost. It just seems like a risky strategy for commission savings. in my experience, trying to make a cut in cost by increasing volume is usually a losing...
