I also noticed that yesterday, FAS went up almost 8%, but TNA, which is a long Russell 2000 small cap fund stayed somewhat flat. So I'm somewhat playing that the ratio between these two should close.

FAZ is low in its cycle, so thats how I placed my bet today.

Looks like today is going to be one of those days where the market just cruises up all day. We were low compared to the 10 day M.A., so I jumped on late.

Yeah...I got singed going short...dumped it all. TA definitely failed me. I "zoomed out" on my T.A. and decided to buy some FAS.

Exactly, the market was lower and moving down for three days, then we had one up day, then today it went nowhere because it couldn't...it was bumping its head....We're at the ceiling. That tells me the market's proper place is lower, because it can't go any higher. You're seeing same glass...

My thinking is that both the long ETF funds that I've watched have had two days to break to the upside and keep bumping against a ceiling. The longer this goes on, the greater likelihood that people will cash out and put that money to work somewhere else. One bit of bad news sparking selling...

The housing start numbers came out lower than expected and today is a slow news day. That gives traders all day to think about profit taking.

Despite futures pointing up as of 8 AM, my TA tells me that today is a FAZ day. The indexes are way high compared to the short term moving average line. SM

Gotta disagree...After charting a while, IMHO, unless news is MAJOR, the market will do what the charts indicate that they should do and the press tries to rationalize market behavior. Once in a while, the press gets confused because good news comes out and the market tanks, or bad news comes...

I don't think so. It looks like today might be a repeat of April 20, 2009. And it is more oversold than last time. I think folks got carried away yesterday with the sell off and the when people abandon their short positions it will make it rebound. How high is hard to gauge, but April 20th...

True, but in this case, the markets may be oversold. If you look at it from the perspective of deviations away from the moving average, it might not be a bad idea to be patient and see how much it comes back. I'm in the same situation, but I'm holding steady because we are way off (too far...

I think we're seeing a slow move down that won't finish until tomorrow. Unless I see a major spike in TZA (its just like FAZ), then I'm going to hold overnight.
