    CNBC - Cramer's Mad Money

RE: NLY-before Cramer got his own show, I saw him interview Farrell a couple of times (I think they are buddies or maybe neighbors) and Cramer asked Farrell if rising interest rates would hurt earnings and Farrell responded to the effect that contrary to popular belief rising rates would not...

    TradestationSerious Performance Issues: Alternates?

TS's latest release, 8.1, has serious performance issues as reported by other users. For example, some people report load times increasing from minutes to 30+ minutes. There have also been reports that Radar Screen becomes unuseable with large numbers of stocks. Attempts to upgrade hardware...

    Oil bubble

An interesting mini nuke project in the little, isolated town of Galena (pop 700), Alaska is worth following. As I understand it, Galena has very high electric costs as it uses diesel generators supplied during the ice free months on the Yukon river. Toshiba has a mini nuke that seems to fit...

Don's openings and more for 2005

I'm not quite sure what I'm saying; mainly looking for anyone who has looked into trading OO failures. Just visually inspecting a few dozen charts today, I saw many the exhibited what I understand to be OO behaivoir. That is the stock opens significantly higher than the previous days close and...

Don's openings and more for 2005

Has anyone looked into fading failures of the OO pattern. I was looking at some NYSE charts today and noticed many that showed the OO pattern but there were also some that showed a failure of the pattern (Or at least my (mis)understanding of it.) Specifically, I noted that on a 2 minute...

    Housing schmousing...

Good point, but this is a guy I've known for 30+ years and he had no reason to misrepresent the situation, though his opinion was surely influenced by his job. And, look at the price trends in north Jersey over the past 50 years, pretty much up. DS

    Housing schmousing...

FWIW-I recently sold some property in North Jersey and made a lot on it. I could not believe but there was a bidding war for it as my initial asking price was bettered by $15K by the first potential buyer. The realtor explained the market to me simply as there is essentially very few more...

Oil supply what's the real situation?

You make a great point. There a lots of ways to produce oil. Conventional oil is produced by punching a hole in the ground and pumping it out. Non conventional oil includes: converting abundant coal reserves to oil via Fisher Tropsch process as practiced by Germany in WW2 and South Africa...

Oil supply what's the real situation?

My understanding is the easily surface mined oil sands are about 20% of the total or around 400 billion barrels still double Saudi. The deeper sands will require more expensive methods like in situ (basically heating them up in place so the oil is pumpable.) From what friends in the industry...

Oil supply what's the real situation?

IMO, when you add up the non conventional and very expensive sources of oil, such as oil sands, shale, coal conversion, GTL, heavy oils as well as a few others I can't remember off the top of my head, you get a few more centuries. Unless of course the Russian/Ukranian abiogenic creation theory...

    Oil bubble

I said I would not be surprised to see oil fall into the 40s not that it should be; my rule #1 for trading is: The market is never wrong. So to me, if oil is close to 60, the is the correct price. OTOH-I don't see the fundamentals supporting the price. When and if it falls, I have no idea...

High oil prices: blessing in disguise

I agree and also, most if not all of the factories needed to produce textiles are gone as well as the equipment needed in them. So, IMO, finding anyone willing to make this investment to get it going again will be near impossible. DS

    Oil bubble

Some interesting stats that suggest to me we are in a bubble mentality: 1. (anecdotal)-I hear "water cooler" talk from people wanting to "get in" on the high prices to make money. 2. Year over year, gasoline inventories are up, but so is use. 3. Crude inventories are up almost 10%...

    Oil bubble

I also believe in markets so it is what it is; however, I would not be surprised to see the price fall towards 40. It seems the mkt is now reacting negatively to any news, for example oil jumped on June 1 for apparently no reason other than it marked the start of hurricane season. DS...

    Oil bubble

IMO, some of the most supportive evidence for a bubble, is almost everyone thinks it is going higher. DS
