    beginner with options trading question

Yes ........ Stick with ATM/OTM options when you open a trade. :)

    beginner with options trading question

Buying/selling ITM spreads to open a trade is absolutely useless. :)

    beginner with options trading question

Yes ....... And that would be a good time to exit - when the short strike becomes ATM/ITM. You also might find it better to just buy the long OTM option only, instead of making it a Debit Spread. The short option can really hold back potential profits. :)

Hypothetical question - would IB protect customers privacy?

Hypothetical Question Would IB (or any broker) protect customers privacy the way Apple did during the recent FBI request to hack the terrorist's phone? Scenario Terrorists plan an "event" that would have a very negative affect on US markets. The terrorists accumulate lots of Put Options in...

    DAL

The DAL 1-year chart doesn't agree with your statement. The red dots represent Paris and Brussels, I see no adverse affect on the stock at all - business as usual. :)

2015 below min-income, still need to file to rollover 1040d losses?

I would always submit the tax forms Every Year even if you don't have to. The reason is to have up-to-date proof that you do not owe the government any taxes. As far as rolling over any losses to another year you probably have lots of leeway how you handle it since it's a relatively small...

    Aggressive Options Trading?

My guess would be OTM Long Calls and/or Puts or OTM Debit Spreads. Credit Spreads and other "income generating" option strategies aren't aggressive enough. :)

    So what is Hedging exactly?

The stock hedges the short calls to the upside. The short calls hedges the stock to the downside. To a very limited extent. A Covered Call is a "hedged" position. I didn't say it was a a good hedge. It's "hedged" from the open. Nothing you can do once the trade is opened. :)

How will banks survive deep NIRP?

IMO ...... Savings account will not be negative rates. They will be 0 at the lowest. :)

How will banks survive deep NIRP?

Less competition means increased fees. I don't think banks make much money in a high interest rate environment - fees is where its at. :)

Q: How will banks survive deep NIRP? A: New fees and increased fees. :)

    So what is Hedging exactly?

A "hedge" has to be implemented when the trade is opened - such as a Credit Spread, Debit Spread, Covered Call, etc. A "hedge" isn't an afterthought once the trade is in progress. You don't close the barn doors after the horses have bolted. :)

Can retail traders trade from home and make enough to live free of the corporate world?

I suspect Nitro has an Amazon account and gets a small amount of $$$ for each item he sells. The Amazon link contains elitetrader-20, which could be Nitro's Amazon account. :)

    Trading Volatility

Passage of time = longer exposure to the market But the "passage of time" is not good for the seller. The market is irrational and the longer the exposure to the market the greater the chance of the unexpected. And the premium collect usually is just peanuts compared to the risk. EDIT: I...
