Highly Recommended Q6600 based custom build

Syp, sounds like a great recipe. I've never built my own machine before but could a real novice attempt this build with the right manuals? Also, would the E8200 2.66Ghz wolfdale processor be a viable dual core alternative for this rig. Thanks.

Agree with surf. Don't use stops if you can help it. Better to trade small amounts in a portfolio of positions (oanda good for this) over days/weeks.

Hi, Angel. Do you have any views on trading CFD's as a synthetic alternative to trading the actual shares?

    our dollar has no value!

I'm a european. Like all europeans I've grown up under the cultural and political influence of the USA. I've lived in the USA (19 years old and looking for the fulsome excitement of daytona beach that was promised us by a juvenile and spotty youth on the greyhound bus that we took from the...

It has finally clicked.....as a trader

Well said Trackstar, the heart of the matter is price and levels. All the rest id bullshit. This is the heart, the rest of the body is subtler and takes a couple of years to get a 'feel' for (ie getting out when things turn grim or holding on when you smell a run). Practice, practice and patience.

    Career Trading out of college

Study what you enjoy, not what you think will bring financial rewards. Could be philosophy, I don't know. As long as you get a good grade. If you want to trade then get a job with a firm, show enthusiasm, work your way onto the desks. Interact with folks in the industry, lots to be learnt. If...

    Learning Curve for sucesssful trading

Great thread. My bit: Be in control, you make the decision whether to enter or not. Not trading is a legit option. Wait for momentum to develop then make perhaps just one trade (after waiting for 2 hours this can be dificult). Remember that 1% a week =52 %?/year. Not Bad for a business. FEEL the...

Ensign Software - Gone to the DOGS

Nice chart, shel. That first break long was just a dandy wasn't it?! Last couple of days pretty tough I've found: choppy and not very 'sure' in it's direction. Par for the course, you've got to take the rough with the smooth. Still love the NQ though, the little devil.

Reaver, you have a good weekend too. No, I cannot criticise those who have experienced things differently. Just trying to balance things. I find for the price it's not too bad. Hell, who knows in a couple of years I'll be driving a Bentley, running a stable of young fillies and keeping a house...

Ensign Software - Gone to the DOGS

You have used it for 8 years? That is a pretty good testament to reliability I would have thought. However, I concede, I don't trade size, whatever that means, I find a single contract enough to focus my mind. The rest of the time I walk my dog and enjoy the sunshine.

It's like the blind leading the blind. Who knows how accurate the data is. Ensign refreshes automatically, I don't understand what you mean Aaron.

Reaver, this is the point, not that one should not depend on MA crosses, god forbid, but that milliseconds should not mean that much if you have a system based on price action and established support/ res.

Day trading - How / Where?

sounds like you are moving from fundamentals to technicals. They are night and day. It will take you a year or two to get a feel for the speed and volitility of futures markets and how to predict (okay, I hear the chuckles) what will probably happen next. Paper trading can do this for you, you...

Ensign Software - Gone to the DOGS

Ensign is not a bad tool. It is pretty solid with the IB feed and offers some good tools. If you are a beginner in the intraday business, trading a contract or two and trade conservatively or look at markets longer term then, at $40/month, it's not a bad deal by far. Data and software vendors...

Ensign Software - Gone to the DOGS

With they way the market is heading, all you really need is a big red sell button!:) Has anyone tried cme equotes? How about a trading co-operative where a group of traders pool resources: best data, equipment etc. Set up somewhere very pretty (N. California perhaps) by the coast. Some...

Ensign Software - Gone to the DOGS

Thanks. You have been using Ensign for some time though, you've said. It's a tricky business this data feed search. I think esignal is overpriced and clunky. I found there was no significant difference between it and an IB feed with Ensign. I'm sure CQG is good but for the benefit of a 20...
