Is IBKR tanking because Citibank is going under?

Are you talking about IB? Have you seen the statement about the Lloyd's of London "additional $900k coverage for cash accounts" mentioned on their site? I am skeptical myself, but it must have some meaning.

Is IBKR tanking because Citibank is going under?

Thanks, I am well aware of that ... I just posted because $100k FDIC coverage was mentioned earlier.

Is IBKR tanking because Citibank is going under?

That's a good idea, but how do you trade intraday if you're tied up in something? I agree with you 100% about having (needing) more than $100k to trade successfully with ... which is why I'm very interested in how this Lloyd's of London additional coverage would work.

Is IBKR tanking because Citibank is going under?

    Thanks Susannah. Currently we have: IBKR 14.75 (P/E 6.61) AMTD 10.58 (P/E 7.95) ETFC 0.90 (P/E n/a) SWIM 5.20 (P/E 5.20) SCHW...

Also for the record FDIC is now $250k I believe.

Is IBKR tanking because Citibank is going under?

I believe they sweep the futures account into a cash account every night, if I'm not mistaken. To short&naked, - IB claims to not have any CDS exposure or other such "risky" assets ... whether or not that's what you meant, I don't know.

    Interactivebrokers & Citibank

Def - thanks for all your help on this thread. Could you answer a simple question for me please ... for an IB account that is in 100% cash every night, what amount above $100k , if any, would be insured in the unlikely event of IB's failure? Thanks in advance. edit: sorry if this is off...

    Interactivebrokers & Citibank

That was my impression - thanks. The IB website mentions additional Lloyds of London coverage up to $30mil for securities and $1mil for cash, subject to an overall limit ... but not quite sure how that comes into play or how the cash sweep thing works...

    Interactivebrokers & Citibank

I'm a bit confused ... can someone please set the record straight in simple terms? It seems clear that SIPC covers up to $500k in securities held in a brokerage account, but how much end-of-day cash in an IB margin account (which trades stocks, futures, and options) is insured? I thought it...

    Baffling Multimonitor Issue

Having a similar problem now with 2 of my 4 Samsung 21" monitors. I keep wondering whether the problem is the monitors or the card(s). Anyway, what I do is cycle the power on the 2 "sleepy" monitors via the switch on the strip, since the power switch on the monitors do not function when this...

Jim Rogers: Citigroup is a buy at $5

Rather than C at 5.00 I prefer UYG at that price. Little risk of this fund going to 0, plus it's somewhat leveraged (although for long-term, not actually 2X like many people think.)

    Obama - Black or Arab?

Mom was all-white, dad all-black. It's pretty obvious in pictures. Where did this Arab nonsense come from? http://www.biography.com/featured-biography/barack-obama/index.jsp "Barack Hussein Obama was born Aug. 4, 1961, in Honolulu, Hawaii. His father, Barack Obama, Sr., was born of Luo...

    Buffett going 100% long stocks

You raise an interesting question. If one is "first and foremost a trader", regardless of their net worth, would that not imply that most of his/her capital would be in trading accounts vs investment accounts? That would seem to me the logical inference. In my case it's not a question of not...

Quotetracker: can't customize, & limited backfill

Update: And now after the close ... miraculously the custom vol charts are working again. Fancy that ... I assume that tomorrow today's data will disappear again and the charts will be 'current-day' backfill only. But if I can still customize volumes, I'll be happy.

Quotetracker: can't customize, & limited backfill

Thanks for your response. Maybe I wasn't clear in my post ... these are brand NEW problems - I've always been able to custom set the charts up until a couple of days ago. Likewise backfill was never a problem until recently. Backtesting is not even part of the equation.
