What % of hedge funds make money? Are SOME really as clueless as retail?

A lot depends on timing of the launch of the hedge fund. David Einhorn is considered one of the most successful hedge fund managers. So is Bill Ackman. However, if they had launched their hedge funds a few years ago when their losing streak started, they would have failed like the rest and none...

Ex-Xerox CEO caves to pressure, gives up $18M golden parachute

I wish Carl Icahn were around on Wall Street during the financial blow-up in 2008 when Wall Street CEOs and executives were rewarded with huge $$$ despite blowing up their companies.

What % of hedge funds make money? Are SOME really as clueless as retail?

I heard marketsurfer is the highly revered Victor Niederhoffer himself. Is it true? I'm sure I can learn a lot from the Master himself.

What % of hedge funds make money? Are SOME really as clueless as retail?

I don't think hedge funds can be as bad as clueless retail investors since it takes ability and track record to raise the initial AUM to start up. They have to at least be above average to have a track record first.

    Latest Rentec Medalion Performance?

Thanks. I understand the part about not sharing info about trading secrets. Those secrets are meant for your kids only. All the best to your trading. I expect successful day-trading will have low draw-down because they don't experience the huge gap-downs that longer-term investors/traders...

    Latest Rentec Medalion Performance?

Some traders want to keep their secrets close to their chest, particularly when they are consistently profitable. I try to be polite when I ask. If answers are not forthcoming, I can understand why.

    Latest Rentec Medalion Performance?

I missed out that post. I do believe your performance with a million dollar account. May I ask what is your time frame in trading? Are you day trader, swing trader (hold position for days to weeks) or long-term trader (hold position for months)? Do you trade stocks or futures or forex?

    Latest Rentec Medalion Performance?

3-digit gains is possible with a small-size account. If a trader has an investment account as large as Renaissance, consistent 3-digit annual gain is unbelievable.

Is it common to get "Trading connection lost" problem on TWS lately?

Recently, I keep getting "Trading connection lost" problem on TWS. I am not sure if it is my own problem or IBKR's server problem. I would like to check with forummers here. Do you encounter rising frequency of "Trading connection lost" when using TWS recently? Any IB representative here to help?

    Bloomberg.com to start charging fees...

For serious investors who rely on good information to make money, they should neither rely neither on paid WSJ or free Reuters. Read the unadulterated source. Read the financial statements, the footnotes and make your own conclusion. Don't be defeated by a combination of ignorance, choice and...

What Exactly Happened to David Einhorn?

Exactly. I agree with you. Value investing will never stop working permanently although there will be time when it will stop working temporarily. Mr Einhorn is going through a bad patch which happens to everyone. The good days of value investing must return eventually.

Einhorn Is Having a Hedge-Fund Midlife Crisis as Losses Mount

He is going through a divorce. That could have impacted his investment performance, given that investing is highly emotional and divorce is super emotional.

    Bloomberg.com to start charging fees...

In the internet era, readers are spoilt for choices. If a news company charges for content, readers go elsewhere. We are overloaded with what to read. Might as well choose to read stuff that are free. A lot of financial blogs are free and just as good, if not better, than articles written by...

Read Reuters news articles. They are just as good and free as well.

Are stop-limit orders made on IB TWS visible to everyone else?

How I wish I can be like your associate :) I doubt your elite associate will be asking questions on this forum. He will probably be the one answering them.

Are stop-limit orders made on IB TWS visible to everyone else?

Haha. You're right. I'm not George Soros. They can't be bothered with retail traders like me.

Are stop-limit orders made on IB TWS visible to everyone else?

Thanks for the tip. However, Interactive Brokers will have to know the stop-limit order. If someone inside IBKR wants to cheat, there is no way to avoid some level of exposure even if we route order to IEX.

Are stop-limit orders made on IB TWS visible to everyone else?

Thanks. It is only visible to Interactive Brokers. Being a satisfied customer of IBKR, I will stick to trusting them once more. IBKR has a reputation of having a good integrity so far compared to the smaller brokers.

Are stop-limit orders made on IB TWS visible to everyone else?

Is it possible there are stop-limit orders which are exchange orders and are visible to everyone on the exchange if they subscribe to market data from the exchange?
