Cboe, LME may shut down trading pits temporarily

Your right, should have been clearer.

Cboe, LME may shut down trading pits temporarily

Referring to the SPX options pit at the CBOE. Lots of volume here. Article originally quoted was about CBOE shutting pits.

Cboe, LME may shut down trading pits temporarily

[ Actually Doordash. SPX options are cash settled, no delivery.

Cboe, LME may shut down trading pits temporarily

The SPX pit at the CBOE is still very active. A lot of volume goes through here. If you watch time and sales, floor trades are now marked as such and you can see the volume.

Cboe, LME may shut down trading pits temporarily

That could really effect liquidity in the S&P pit. A lot of volume is pit traded. And maybe they decide a pit is no longer needed if it stays closed for a while.

    Buying a covered call, bid/ask

The option order will not have to be sold on the bid. Most platforms will allow you to send the order as a spread, buy stock and sell call. You will get a much better fill as it will be filled as a spread and need less edge for the MM then if you sell each one separately. I would suggest you...

    What time do options expire?

I get my assignment information just after midnight on Friday. The OCC has already processed the information and sent out results before Saturday. This is now the standard practice. There may be a very rare situation were this is briefly delayed, but by Saturday it is done. Options no longer...

    What time do options expire?

Expiration is no longer the day after trading stops It is now the same day. All exercises and assignments are now processed and results are given to the firms by the OCC sometime before midnight Friday (or Wed/Monday for weeklies). Gone are the days of coming in Saturday to deal with out...

    What time do options expire?

Its not that they are weekly options, its that all SPX options are cash settled. Whatever the final closing price of the index is (or morning settlement price for monthly AM SPX) is what the options are worth. There is no advantage of exercising based on after hours movement in a cash settled...

    What time do options expire?

I actually posted about this some time ago. I felt that the slightly out of the money options were being under priced (in the SPX) a few minutes before the close and the risk/reward was very good to buy them. I don't think that has been the case in awhile though. In these extreme volatility...

    What time do options expire?

Cash settlement eliminates the risk of early exercise and pin risk. You never have to worry about whether or not you will be assigned. This can be a big plus, although if you are long these options you won't have the opportunity to exercise early or after hours on expiration.

    What time do options expire?

Well, just to make it "crystal clear" for you. The holder of a long option will have until Friday at 430pm et in order to decide whether to exercise or not (or 430pm et on Wed or Monday for weekly expirations). This is the OCC cutoff time, so most brokers will have an earlier cutoff time in...

    Getting orders filled on spreads

Still a bit confused on what type of spread you are doing. "Synthetic Spread" is not a good description. Can you give me an example of a specific spread you are trying to do? Are you buying a vertical call spread, are you buying a time spread, are you trading a combo vs a specific strike...

    Getting orders filled on spreads

Unless you are trading size, they don't want to hear from you on the floor. You will get generally get a tighter market in the COB as well, especially for a small order.
