    The end or a pullback?

We really won't know until tomorrow at least, but there are a lot of shooting stars being printed today on decent volume. A lot of issues including KLAC and QCOM came down and essentially ended the day on their open, not a good sign. Still, on the daily charts a higher high and higher low was...

    Democrat or Republican

Republicans . . . . they raise your taxes slightly slower than Dems.

You're not missing much in the ES today. A small breakout then nothing since. I hate big gap days like this.

    IB on 56k modem

I use a 56k as a backup and even at an actual connect speed of 33.6 it works fine. Just don't stream anything else at the same time like Briefing.com or esignal or you'll probably choke the bandwidth.

Is being profitable the most important?

It can also be interpreted that unless you're ahead of the pack, all you'll see is a bunch of BIG_TUNAs and that's no way to be running a race :D It also seems like Fresh_Tuna's gonna be in for a little boning by the moderator's knife.

6 posts . . . all so eloquently spoken through your asshole.

Is being profitable the most important?

Nothing is more relaxing during the stressful day than filling a pipe and enjoying a nice long smoke during the mid-day doldrums.

    SSF and IB

Most of the HOLDRs except the BBH and SMH trade lightly. The Broadband BDH traded all of 51k yesterday, not exactly the liquidity you'd want for daytrading. Even the Retail RTH was only 361k.

    Mozart, Trading

I dread the day my daughter starts listening to that crap. That profanity-laced skull-pounding noise makes that chainsaw rock 'music' of the 80's and 90's seem tame.

Is being profitable the most important?

I installed an exhaust fan over my trading desk to catch the pipe and cigar smoke, which can turn monitor bezels yellow and be detrimental to the hard drives. Try getting permission from the boss to do that in an office :D

Is being profitable the most important?

Same here. In fact I'd even be willing to take a small hit financially vs.a regular job not to have to commute and kiss some boss's ass 5 days a week. That's worth a lot - being in control of your life.

Hogwood's Academy of Anceint Music - best Brandenburgs out there. Nothing beats baroque on period instruments. The only thing Greenspan can orchestrate is a good 2nd movement . . . of his bowels. Both he and Harvey Pitt have long overstayed their welcomes drinking from the public trough.

    E-mini questions

That's been my experience exactly. The first 2 hours (except 930-945 or so) and the last 2. The middle of the day you can just mail in. A bunch of low-probability trades. Occasionnaly you'll get a bona fide breakout but that's such a rarity why bother playing the percentages. I always use...

    Journals

What, Paul, you never did stupid-assed things when you first started trading? I could fill a book, 2 volumes, of all the times I either didn't have a clue when I took a position or traded outside my plan. You trade, you lose money, the market kicks your ass, and hopefully you learn and live to...

Take a break for a joke

A husband and wife had a bitter quarrel on the day of their 40th wedding anniversary. The husband yells, "When you die, I'm getting you a headstone that reads, 'Here Lies My Wife - As Cold As Ever'." "Yeah" she replies, "When you die, I'm getting you a headstone that reads, 'Here Lies My...

Take a break for a joke

Reminds me of some market makers that handle stocks beginning with "TH": A young man was walking through a supermarket to pick up a few things when he noticed an old lady following him around. Thinking nothing of it, he ignored her and continued on. Finally he went to the checkout line, but...
