Mental Ceilings and self fulfilling prophesies

Why would it be a silly goal? After all, with such a goal, even failure to achieve it would propel the levels of success to a new plane would they not? Best Natalie

Mental Ceilings and self fulfilling prophesies

If it is so completely impossible to do better than the much vaunted 1 point per day avarage, then please explain why in your opinion that might be. Proper explanation that has no flaws. So far all you have done is poke fun at it, but it has not yet once been backed up by a good sound logical...

    Trading for Girls

It is no surprise that there are not many women trading on the trading floors of big firms. Lets face it, how many women are prepared to put up with the constant verbal (and sometimes sexual - yes it happens too frequently still!) harrassment of a bunch of testosterone-hyped Arseholes! (Not all...

Trading Times -- When do you trade?

You've identified that it is 'full of fake breakouts etc., waiting for them to occur and fading them is a great way to make low risk $$$, and you can even switch sides quickly on the less frequent occasions that they turn out to be real and pick up decent moves because you are in the groove of...

Mental Ceilings and self fulfilling prophesies

Yet ES is only around 1000 now, and I know people whose avarages did not dropped below 5... There is also the question of a large number of points available in the very large and volatile swings that were taking place at the time... Best Natalie

Mental Ceilings and self fulfilling prophesies

I agree entirely. It represents very well the reasons I started this thread. The removing of mental ceilings to my way of thinking crucial to any kind of success in any venture and trading is no different. mental ceilings are also far too prevalent on ET aren't they.... Best Natalie

Mental Ceilings and self fulfilling prophesies

Isn't that interesting. Not least beside the previous thread I started here, where the notions of Fear of Success were heavily discounted by many (but far from all) of the participants in that thread. The major argument being that fear of failure was the consideration, or that there was no...

Mental Ceilings and self fulfilling prophesies

Here is an example to throw out. Over the last 9 trading days, the total range of all 30 mins bars added together is 519 points. That's an avarage of 57.5 (ish) per day Assuming that only half of them were tradeable due to spread and considerations of liquidity due to size, then the total...

Mental Ceilings and self fulfilling prophesies

I would agree completely, and yet continually here on ET, the question is asked about avarage returns etc. and the answer given is always the same or similar. It is almost as if a culture has grown up around a certain level of success being achievable and anything beyond that is not achievable...

Mental Ceilings and self fulfilling prophesies

Just to clarify... Am I right that the core message in this post confirms that it is the beliefs that limit the systems/methods being employed rather than the methods being improved/modified on a continuing basis to move on to another plane? Best Natalie

Mental Ceilings and self fulfilling prophesies

And there lies the flaw in your thinking about this subject. You are looking only at the possibilities of a particular strategy (any strategy in particular come to that) rather than what the market is actually able to give. You are also thinking about what 'most' traders do in your opinion...

    Toby Crabel ORB bubble burst?

Thanks. I was simply curious especially never having read it. Best Natalie

Mental Ceilings and self fulfilling prophesies

Ok so you are not justifying but merely explaining it. And yet, by setting out to explain it rather than question it you have added more weight in all your assertions to the 1 point avarage being a given, a self fulfilling prophecy. I do not believe that it is a personailty thing either, more...

    Toby Crabel ORB bubble burst?

What is so wonderful about it that folks are prepared to spend as much as $2400 to buy it? Best Natalie

Mental Ceilings and self fulfilling prophesies

yes - I know the maths is flawed. But thanks for pointing that out :) The point I'm trying to get to is more a case of raising mental ceilings and changing results posively as a consequence. best Natalie

Mental Ceilings and self fulfilling prophesies

Right, but having said that it still comes back to the original question I posed. You are still justifying why 1 point is correct and re-inforcing it, and yet using your own example I have demonstrated that by doubling activity in the markets, the result is also doubled.? Best Natalie

Mental Ceilings and self fulfilling prophesies

Yep - self-sabotage, brought on by being unable to handle the absolute$$$ good point. But then implies a mental ceiling and a self-fulfilling prophecy doesn't it? Best Natalie

Mental Ceilings and self fulfilling prophesies

Ok so we have a mathematical justification as to why the number 'is' 1. But equally there are lot of mathematical justficiations as to why it could just as easily be 2 - by taking 3 more trades in the same ratios as stated for example...? or adding those two examples together to make 6 trades in...

Mental Ceilings and self fulfilling prophesies

In another thread there is a discussion going on about more or less is trading worth it or is it better to get an MBA and go work in LargeCo.Inc. The premise is basically that avarage gains from ES in points terms are about 1-1.5 points per day. This is taking into account winning days and...
