What the hell should I do now?

Flier6, Do yourself a favor and put all of it into a CD and or Treasury Bills. $500,000 @ 5% is still $25,000. Granted that you want to earn more with your money but, with a higher return----there is a higher amount of risk!!! In a survey on Elitetrader, 31% of traders lost money!!! If...

Have you been trading profitably for more than a year?

There was another guy on Elite Trader who did a survey if I recall correctly. In his survey, 31% of traders are losers, 1 trader made over $1 million, a couple made $500,000 and another couple made $250,000 and a couple more $100,000. The difference in that survey is that there are ranges in...

Have you been trading profitably for more than a year?

Just started trading options in 2005. I did manage to make a small profit of $5,000.00 for the year but, put "no" as my answer as I have just been it less than a year. Of course, hoping to make 2006 a better year but, we never know how it will turn out. Still working on minimizing my mistakes...

    the basic flaws in TA

The debate probably will end if everyone traded the same way. On the contrary, each trader has his own biases, uses different indicators, sees the same chart differently, etc. So, why expect the same results? On the fundamental analysis side, the figures are only as good if they are accurate...

    Remaining Emotionless While Trading?

mizer, I guess it helps if you are right with your trade. Still learning myself and I have been emotional at times too. Smaller losses is definitely easier to accept and I am teaching myself to minimize losses as well as allow winners to run. I just try and tune things out. A winning trade...

    Stupid Stupid Stupid!!!!!

Here is my opinion on this emotions thing when trading. As human beings, we would not be normal if we don't have emotions. I have it as everyone else. The problem is when a "lack of discipline" takes hold of us or we become too "stubborn" to accept mistakes. The smallest loss is the easiest to...

    Stupid Stupid Stupid!!!!!

Therudeboy, If you are a trader, you cannot be bull headed and arrogant. Once, you are wrong----you have to get out or reverse your position!!! If you let your ego rule you----you are toast!!! I would rather make money and accept my losses (small ones are the best). For 2005, I had 24...

    spinning my wheels...

My tool is Investools and I run their screens to find the stocks I need. They have screens for strong and weak stocks. Stocks with strong fundamentals, stocks with strong insider action, etc. This is not a "free" site and I also do not work for "Investools". I am a satisfied user though...

    What's the Right Strategy?

CL Lim, You seem to be hitting slightly above 50% which is what I have right now. I had 24 options trades in 2005, 14 winners and 10 losers and a win/loss ratio of $1.51. Had a lot of mistakes too on the trading. That I am working on right now. On the plus side, options probably will be an...

    Stupid Stupid Stupid!!!!!

I am no expert trader but, have been studying and continue to study this day and if you only do one thing----have a "trading journal". Even Toni Turner in the Las Vegas Expo last Dec. 12-17, 2005 said that if you have a trading journal----your losing trades will not be a total loss because you...

    US equity monday moves

krazykarl, It has nothing to do about doom and gloom. What I learned from trading is not to be arrogant when you are wrong!!! I still feel that short term and based on the charts that a down turn is probability wise, the best assumption. I know that I will not be correct 100%. It can be...

    US equity monday moves

Dow chart looks like a head and shoulders pattern and it dropped below the neckline Friday. I exited all my mutual funds in my 401K but, hang on to my oil and mining stocks in my 401K. In my opinion, it is going to go lower. At the very least, I got out of my mutual funds at a price a bit higher...

when to close options positions when you are net-long?

None of the above is my answer. For longer term trades, I try to get 80-100% and then, sell half, goes up double and sell another half until all are sold. For shorter term trades of 3-5 days, I look for 40%-100% and close my position when I see signs of weakness in the stock.

    Is broker stealing my money?

When I tried a demo with FXCM and Refco then, what I noticed is that if the asked is say 1.7625 and you are buying say that currency, say the British pound----you would have to pay an extra 5 pips or 0.0005 to buy the currency. In this case, if you wanted to buy----you would end up paying 1.7630...

    Optionetics: Good or Bad ?

ra1, We pretty much have the same experience. I started attending the seminars----the preview seminars which are free and the actual seminar. Spent about $3200.00. Wizetrade, stay away from it----that sucker doesn't work!!! My friend got hooked on 4x Made Easy and she paid like another...

    Optionetics: Good or Bad ?

Li Ka Shing, That is my situation now. I am the one doing the mentoring to my friend about trading options. I cannot abandon my friend who has lost a lot in the market in 2005. So, I study and trade and do a bit of mentoring too!!! On the plus side, I was in the black in 2005 with a...

    Don't Americans see it?

US Companies with operations abroad continue to make money. Why do you think the corrupt politicians are doing everything to get them to repatriate those earnings back to the US? Jobs were lost abroad due to NAFTA which was the brain child of Clinton during his time. Too late to whine and cry...

    Optionetics: Good or Bad ?

Riskarb, How did you get started in trading? Did you learn everything by just reading books, trying things out? You did not go to a single seminar or pay someone to teach you to trade? If so, you are probably one of the talented few. Even before I started trading, I thought I knew enough to...

    Optionetics: Good or Bad ?

Majority of these seminars or software you see in informercials is "no good". Avoid Wizetrade, 4X Made Easy, 5 Star Trading (this one is similar but, a poor imitation of Investools). My friend and I shared Wizetrade, she paid for 4X Made Easy and these software are no good!!! 5 Star Trading...

    Optionetics: Good or Bad ?

I cannot agree more. If you keep making mistakes costing you thousands of dollars----$3000 is a pittance. That said, I feel that having attended all these seminars, some paid and some free that you can only learn more. In any endeavor, you only get what you put into it!!! If you are really...
