Moving averages are mathematical definitions of trend. Many traders use them in one way or another, to get out if not to get in. Three bar pivots are also popular trend following technique. Just look at the 3 min chart on the NQ, you will see a volume increase almost every time price breaks...

It's called a trailing loss. In ensures maximizing a loss when the market moves against you. I believe this guy tried it at one point during the movie:

There is a service called "FutureSouce" which has nice continuation charts. Only thing I didn't like about it, it is a web-based program.

I am curious to know what your definition of significant uptrend is. I follow two MA's, a 3 1/2 day for swing trades and a 55 day.. we're above both of them...

Where did you get this information from? I don't think it's right. The GLOBEX, at least for eminis, has market, stop-limit, and limit orders. Anything else is simulated by your broker's system. On IB you can tell what's been sent to GLOBEX and what's simulated by the color code. With...

If you trade small you don't have to worry about the gaps. Corollary: If you are worried about the gaps then you're not trading small enough.

I noticed when I have a longer time frame chart up, and a long moving average, it sometimes takes a while for QCharts to get the data from the server. Eventually (a few min.) it draws the MA.

Look, from a MM standpoint, bet should be about 5% of the account size. So you might want to take a look at that first. Hopefully your whole account is not wrapped up in these options. I did that once too (I lost). That being said, it looks to me like PFE is headed back up since it formed...

Same here, it's very deceiving. Actually, it's worse than that. With overnight holds I have to monitor at 6pm, midnight, and 6am. I'm quite tired. But it does work. Also, I use a single moving average vice a crossover.

Exits are where it's at, so to speak. One exercise i've been doing for a week now (on a simulator, real time) is taking the same mechanical entry signal every time, but take a discretionary exit. The mechanical system is an "always in system" so I compare how I do to the system.
