Aggressive Hedge funds for small investors?

2% management fee means 2% of your account value taken off the top, win, lose or draw. Usually paid monthly or quarterly in advance, pro-rated of course. 20% incentive fee means, the manager keeps 20% of your profits annually. 1700 round turns per million means that the manager averages 1700...

While capacity is an issue at present with some particularly larger investors, the issue is about 6-12 months premature. There is still capacity left in some very talented managers which will be absorbed in short order. The real talent crunch will occur when the Japanese enter the market en...

As for marketing an FoF of emerging hedge fund managers, I know that a number of people have toyed with this idea. Personally, what is the advantage to the investor of investing in this type of FoF? Why should an investor invest with a bunch of rookie hedge fund managers? Some would argue that...

I also bought, Meg Whitman, Johnny Cochran, Tim Berners-Lee (founder of the internet), Wayne Huizenga, and Paul Tudor Jones. I'm really trying hard to build my rolodex, lol. I also won the Buffett autographed Graham & Dodd book. I went totally nuts! LOL, all the best..Neal. Incidentally, to...

Good point Marketsurfer. Incidentally, where were you on the Tudor card? I pm'd you before bidding. Didn't hear back from you so I went ahead and won the card. Anyway, it's a difficult question. For hedge funds, we report returns on the amount of capital in the Fund although through the use of...

He's got $100,000 up with me and he makes about $50,000 per month on it. It gets swept to him on a monthly basis. He does about 5 million shares per month. Don't really want to get into it much further. Thanks.

If you are referring to what percentage of 'day-traders' we have in our Farm Team are making 15% per month, I would say we only have a very small number of traders in that program currently. We have one outstanding superstar that makes about 50% per month with hardly a down day. He is off the...

I run a small prop firm which hires traders in a 'farm team' format. I offer the worst deal on the street. However, I do afford them the opportunity to make the transition from day-trading firm to legitimate hedge fund (and all the good things that come along with that, such as resume...

Edges are constantly coming and going. Edges that exist today may not exist 6 months ago. I love the saying 'make hay while the sun shines'. Mutual Fund Timing or International Time Zone Arbitrage has been described as the last great true arbitrage. That is true. It's an amazing trade. Yes, it...

I agree with your post (and not just because you agreed with mine :-) As for traders, I say go for it! Ask for the sun, the moon and the sky! If you can get it, more power to you! The firms are the stupid ones for allowing it. However, over time, just as if baseball were to suddenly fall out of...

The first link that you list is basically recruiting for sales people who want to do capital introduction for hedge funds and then the hedge funds trade through them so that they can earn commissions., etc. The second link is a group that is owned by the first link which is trying to market to...

Not only did I try my hand (albeit briefly as part of a venture investment that I was considering into Blackwood Trading which I never made) at day-trading, but I now own a small day-trading firm. So again, sorry, I have a lot more experience in day-trading then you believe. Thanks for your...

The caveat being that the provider of the 'edge' (ECNs) are greatly outstripping the exploiters of the edge (few day traders). Hence, the demand/supply equation of the 'edge' causes it's legitimacy.

Incidentally, I am not trying to be a Yenta on this thread. I have a business relationship with Generic/Carlin and it's important for me to know about this situation.

I beg to differ my friend. The edge is getting paid to trade. However, you still have to be able to exploit it profitabily and correctly, (ie. via a black box). Incidentally, the strategy with the edge can be exploited on a discretionary basis and probably has some legitimate juice in it, just...
