    Proprietary Trading Firms

You realy have allot to think about champ. There isnt a worse feeling in the world than losing upper 6 figures because some putz blows up on an esoteric trade. Ive been down that road not at a prop and on a much larger scale and it is infuriating. If it is a prop with a decent risk...

The one thing we dont need to hear

Once you get that type of notice it creates a run on the bank. Its great you got a warning but you should leave and leave now. They will put band aids over shot gun wounds but the party is over. I experienced this at a fortune 50 company and a sleazy prop. When the excuses start coming...

    ICE/IPE Brent Crude

I trade on ICE/IPE daily and use Xtrader front end. The spread are quoted directly for cal spreads. Crack spreads are not quoted directly. ICE is not terribly stable compared to CME or CBOT. I realy thought that after the ICE ipo they would put some real cash into the tech but they spent 1mm...

Profit Splits at day trading Firms

This is a poor deal. I have traded for fortune 50 company, a prop and myself. The fees that you will acrue at a propr shop will eat away most of your profits if you follow thier click happy trading "recomendations". If you are a novice and they have a training program that lasts more than...

    Is my career over?

The fact you have to ask this question would prevent me from hiring you. The basic rule is risk not thy whole wad. You are essentialy shooting craps with 30 lots and such little capital. Im sure its been said but I dont need to read 30 pages of it. How did you let yourself lose 13,000...

Opposite Side info article from WSJ

I found it very amusing the person quoted as a major opponent has been having people use this info for well over 6 months. Where is the value of this for a small guy?? Very little in my opinion.

The Real Cost of being a Proprietary Equity Trader

Not true when the data feed is from CQG, Esignal ect.. Just split the feed at the PC level and there is no way to know how many are using it.

The Real Cost of being a Proprietary Equity Trader

Some of my personal favs -Charge for the T1 and redundant T1's that are being mainly used by cutomers (roughly 25-30k per annum) -charging for front ends that are being provided for free due to instability of said platform (Roughly 10k per annum) - having traders absorb costs of...

The "haves" and the have "N.O.T.S." (Novice Options Traders)

I dont want to hop in on something but you need to think this out. These are some rel. basic concepts that should look look very bad to you as soon as you look at it regardless of the traade and/ or market. Get the vols lined up (hist v. imp), a prudent stop and start from there. Have a good one.

The "haves" and the have "N.O.T.S." (Novice Options Traders)

I question a target px and the stop loss. Do you know why? What is wrong with the ratio between the two?

full size electronic silver contract from the CBOT

Ive traded them also and you certainly shouldnt count on stops. This is far from a day trading market like it is being portrayed as far as Im concerned. Most of the two ways are auto quoters spreading off the big or COMEX.

    ICE futures

The NYMEX and ICE should be far more concerned about the CME rolling out energy in JUNe. The CME built a system for the NYMEX prior to the NYMEX deciding to go with clearport. The CBOT cant even get mini silver and gold fungible with big silver and gold; and you expect them to roll out new...

    System Crashes at Prop Firms

This is a loaded question. It isnt 100% on the firm if there is a tech issue. If you are trading on a completely inferior exchange like ICE or IPE the system crashes are exchange related and have little if anything to do with your company. If you are crashing on proven exchanges like CBOT,CME...

    Electronic Oil Traders

I am in the process of hiring traders to day trade Brent Crude oil on the International Petroleum Exchange. The company I work for is located in Chicago and has a stellar history with in the prop trading community. The deal would consist of good splits favoring the trader and the possibility of...
