    Global Macro Trading Journal

I've found that certain trend following methods produce slightly more profit with an optimized stop....... on past data. However, tight stops ruin it in a big way. As you say, position sizing is the real deal. If the daily range will blow out your account, that would be a hard life. I...

    Good trading should feel bad?

Is it OK to pick up a knife that has fallen to the ground?

Anyone have a SPY algo running intraday?

I have one that runs on hourly data for entries and tick data for exits. It's been flat for a couple months as the market has been too quiet to trigger any positions. :)

    Dad's Kid Day Trading Journal

I think he means that you don't need spiritual help for your trading systems, but for your soul. It's OK to feel frustrated. Your advanced models have not delivered the pot of gold like you once thought they could. I think you will find help if you search your bitter soul and recognize that...

Building a live account - $1,000 to more than $3,000,000 in 30 years

Based on his equity curve the R multiple appears to be very large. One win makes up for many losses. :)

How much did your trading education cost?

Lol. I paid The Market and various gurus $8-10k so far. Most of it went to option writers. :)

    Good trading should feel bad?

The point is that The Market will pay you for helping it move in the direction that will keep it alive. It needs transactions to exist. Fear causes transactions and by going against your own fears you end up on the other side of most participants' trades....... for the win. :)

    Good trading should feel bad?

Ok, how about Bob Moriarty, who has been very good at calling the local tops / bottoms in gold & silver for the past year. http://www.321gold.com/editorials/moriarty/moriarty032612.html What? No one position trades around here? :D

    Good trading should feel bad?

Do you make your best trades when they are the hardest to take? When you fade the extremes of emotion and provide a service to the market, buying what is clearly being puked out by the herd of amateurs caught in the undertow of their own fears? I've read that fading extremes of emotion is...

    Catching Tails

I understand that by publicly showing my methodz, there will be difference of opinion. I have had GREAT success with catching the third wave when I wait for all indicators to show divergence and a huge green candle on the breakout. I clearly miscalculated this time, as the trade grazed the...

    Catching Tails

OK, here is the correct buy signal I should have waited for. Channel breakout on what I perceive to be the threshold of wave iii. It's shaping up to be a scrumptious inverted h/s pattern, but -1 for lack of discipline. :D

    Catching Tails

Long BAC @ 9.68 anticipating wave iii of 5; Stop Market @ 9.28 The setup is based on two EW principles: Wave iii typically breaks out of the resistance formed by the previous corrective wave of next higher degree, and wave ii never comes below the base of wave i. My "buy signal" was...

Would you dump your trading method...

Interesting how this was posted in psychology forum. A system with 99% win rate definitely appeals to human psychological bias of needing to always be right. That would be an edge the entire world would be looking to copy. Not exactly robust! A robust edge does not appeal to the typical...

Successful Trading and Compounding - On Steroids

There is no point calculating how much money you will make, IMO. You should calculate the odds of making it and size your bets accordingly. with 24X leverage on $2500 you will need tight stops, which kill profitability. The OP has stats on his past trading. Things like win rate, longest...

    Catching Tails

Hi, Didn't see your question the first time I saw your response. We're seeing completely different things. This is why I'm not shy about posting my method. :) Elliot wave is very user dependent and an acquired taste, but deadly accurate in the right hands. Paul Tudor Jones is the most...

Why did admin / mods open two unread private messages ?

Well that just about confirms what we've all been suspecting......... Trading is 100% psychological. GS imagines various sock puppets, being ganged upon, and having his privacy violated but the facts show something different. This is very similar to his market performance. :D

    Catching Tails

Considering human nature wants to fade that huge green candle when it starts, yes this trading style can feel very awkward. I watched that candle for about 3% before I was ready to jump in. It just kept going up. Never once went against me. The irony is that it is the safest setup I know...
