    Newbie here, need some advice/thoughts

golf - well, you've gotten the earfuls from everyone here, I won't go there. Here's some thoughs: 1) like someone posted, you aren't going to be able to daytrade for long on $1200. You need $25k to do that. 2) Consider futures for the leverage, but you'll need at least $5000 for most...

    Is this slippage or what!

Exactly. You would not have seen this on the e-mini's, which is what I trade.

    Trading and Job

Cris - good question. I decided while I was a stockbroker that I wanted to trade full-time. It's not an easy decision, but once you make it, you have to go at it 100%. What pushed me over the edge to do it full-time was after a lot of studying and researching, I just decided that if I was going...

Best way to get rid of my handles

I did provide a counter point smart guy. I said that you do NOT need to spend 2 hours per day in the gym, CONTRARY to what you said. That's a counter-point. Working out and eating right is alot like trading - there are different styles for different people. There is NOT one correct style...

Best way to get rid of my handles

Funny, do you know me and what I look like? Didn't think so smarty. Wow, you take constructive feedback very well. The point being - there is in fact more than one way to workout, contrary to what arb may think. But, apparently he knows it all in this area, so what's the point of others...

Best way to get rid of my handles

Arb - your post and 273's post have some different opinions and suggestions; therefore it was not 'covered before'. I completely disagree with your post that you must spend hours in the gym each day. That may be ONE option, but it sure is not the best or only option. You said "Bottom-line...

I would have to agree that the ES is the preferred vehicle.

Best way to get rid of my handles

Some have mentioned a cardio version of HIT, I do the weight lifting version of HIT (High Intensity Training). It's VERY contradictory to what all the muscle magazines and others tell you. I can't go into all the details here, so check out http://www.highintensity.net My routine - work...

What broker do you trade your 401-K with

The problem there Tony is that the majority of people that put money into 401k's don't have a clue. There's been many studies done that show if you limit the choices in a 401k the majority of 'average Joes' will put $ in. If you have too many choices it's overwhelming. That's why it's done that...

    Globex Stops

Pabst - If I see any slippage on the ES it's usually one tick. I have my limits on entries set at 1 tick from my entry, so basically 2 ticks. Example: If I want to enter at 1200, I am willing to enter up 1200.25. I should also point out that all of my entries are Buy Stop Limits or Sell Stop...

    Globex Stops

Depends on a couple things: 1) How many contracts are you trading? 2) Is this during 'normal' trading times or during news, reports, etc? I've had very minimal slippage on the ES trading 30-50 at a time.

    chat room

Mark - good ideas. I think Euro just wanted a room to be able to share ideas with and I hope he sticks with it. I do agree though, a PalTalk or something would be a little better. Keep up the good work Euro! At $12.50/tick, he is doing well and those trading the Euro or interested in it...

    Pretty confused

Tin - in futures, which is what I trade, I've always used a Buy Stop Limit and on the platform I am using, T4, it is a one click order entry system. My orders are not that far from the market, so I need quick and easy execution.

    Pretty confused

Good point - always use a limit order as well. Just a buy stop is very risky as you could get a much worse fill. I just trade futures intraday, so that doesn't happen often, but I could see that easily in stocks.

    quick newb question... thanks.

Any real-time charting package with back filled data can provide this easily. Not sure about the free stuff out there. Try stockcharts.com or marketcenter.com.

    Pretty confused

I ONLY enter with Buy Stop Limits and Sell Stop Limits. Why - I want to see a price level broken before I enter. Yes, the fill price is worse than if I just went in at the market, but if the price level is never broken, I don't want in the trade period. That's how I use them.

I didn't think it moved that much considering. Nat gas RARELY effects the QM, if ever.
