How to research and verify trading ideas

As a true freshman in the backtesting area, I can say that this is hands down the best system I have tested to date. When I added a few additional techniques, it’s off the charts. Wow! Most kind of you sir! Please know that I am indebted and appreciative. (Anyone …. show me a system...

    Jim Rogers: My First Million

In regards to outworking others more gifted than oneself, my father had me memorize Woody Hayes quote: "I've had smarter people around me all my life, but I haven't run into one yet that can outwork me. And if they can't outwork you, then smarts aren't going to do them much good. That's just...

How to research and verify trading ideas

Swing trading – now I’m all ears sir. Given that your swing method is “Unquantifiable”, and given that I’m primarily a musician (for the “Art” side of trading) perhaps I can see a bit of what you see if I can see some of your past swing trades. So would you be so kind as to...

Thank you for the thread SO. I appreciate your time and effort. These are the kinds of threads that make ET enjoyable and instructional. I’m rather new to swing/position trading so my chart/trading ignorance would easily fill the new Dallas stadium. I say this so you’ll have an...

How to research and verify trading ideas

Great thread Talontrader. I mentioned on the other thread where you first posted this system that I appreciated you doing so. I’m sure there are a number of other folks who appreciate it as well. No question for me, this is the kind of interesting material that occasionally makes ET...

The sad truth about trading is

Thank you very much for posting your system with an edge. It was a real eye opener for me as it relates to my so called backtesting. I work days so I’m relegated to backtesting with end of day data looking for an edge in the short to intermediate term. I have not been at it too long but can...

    Relative Strength

A RS chart that compared Ind to the SPY would be reduced by .0186 and the Tech to Spy would be increased by .028. So you are correct. I keep a numer of RS charts: SML/SPY, MID/SPY, SML/MID, RPV/RPG etc. Make a 200 and 50 dma of the RS line and when the 50 crosses the 200 it's very telling.

Learning to read Price Action with P&F Charting

Thanks for the input. Am I correct that the current pattern is a double top, and for the bull trap to occur you would need a reversal back down and then a reversal back up and triple top breakout?
