How can you over fit? Don't you want it fitted as well as possible?

Can you give more explanation of why you think some look better than others? Assuming they have price, 50, 200, in that order... What is it that makes one preferable to another?

Why small? Because of a greatly increased % chance of winning the trade. To me, small is 0.25-1.0. Haven't decided yet. With a large enough account, this can still be a respectable amount of money to profit.

Given how annoying you are, if I do I'll be sure not to share the results with you.

A couple years ago, I backtested something with Bollinger Bands and it had good results. I'm trying to look through old notes to find it. It was for EUR/USD, though, not ES.

I've tried twice. It says it's running the backtest, then eventually the program closes. I've never seen it close because I get busy and do something else. I can't watch it forever waiting for it to potentially do something.

Realistically, backtesting on data that tests every tick is the only way to get 100% accurate results. And why would anyone want results that are less than 100% accurate? Is this realistic to expect NinjaTrader to do this? I am just starting on NinjaTrader. Previously my only backtesting...

I lost money from September 2019 until August 2022, when I finally changed strategy and started trading ES only. I just follow the overall mood of the market and try to ride the waves of major news releases. I'm trying to fine tune that strategy that's been working since August of this year.

That's why I'm thinking I can backtest an algo and keep changing the variables for different entry and exit criteria, then stick to that script religiously. I would trust a computer over my own emotions. The only human input would be me knowing which way the winds are blowing that day and not...

Plus the numbers change significantly when you consider you don't have to win on the first price move. It can move against you for an hour as long as it eventually goes back your way. And as long as it doesn't move so far that you get margin called or risk losing your life savings, etc.

So there's no point in playing without an edge. And those numbers change significantly if you make it 0.5 or 0.75.

1. At what point before this message did you tell me you are a scalper? What timeframe? I would guess very short and you hold on average for no more than 5 minutes. Ok, price action.... But indicators can perform calculations much faster than a human. Especially in combination.

On NinjaTrader ($2.04 commission/ES contract), that's $10.46 of profit for 0.25 point and $22.96 for 0.5 point. So it would require a large account size, but a profit could be made even at those small increments.

And what do you rely on? What timeframe of trader are you?

No clue but I know this isn't ES.

For a very small (scalp) gain on ES? I'm willing to do backtesting and post results on here, so I'm not just asking for a free "holy grail."

Is WealthLab also a brokerage? If not, what trading platforms can it be used with?
