    About Thinkorswim

Yes, the ones that come from outside providers do not follow the font selection. Not a problem for me though as I don't use those, except for charts, but no problem there. I use a 1920 by 1200 resolution with Large font size, works great for me. Cheers.

difference between market-making and just proprietary trading?

Bad deal is not the same as a bad quote. WD40 can correct me to what he/she actually meant, but I'm pretty sure the meaning is that although the market maker maybe bullish on a stock he/she still has to buy a put. (Yes, I know that market makers don't really care about the direction, so please...

    Hedge Funds and Alpha

Alpha is the extra return awarded to the investor for taking additional risk rather than accepting the market return. Technically speaking, alpha is the intercept in the estimation model. It is expected to be equal to risk-free rate times (1 - beta). In other words, they are doing what...

    the last week of butterfly

I wouldn't necessarily say "better", but the butterflies do make most of their profit in the last week. If you do trade them in the last week or so then you have to consider whether a butterfly actually benefits you with it's 3 sets of commissions and slippage both ways as opposed to just a...

    Options on European stocks

Hi, Does anyone here trade options on European stocks? I mean options that are listed in Europe not US-listed options! I'm interested in what sort of liquidity do they offer compared to options on US stocks? Are they significantly less liquid, more liquid, about the same? TIA!

Is this possible- 1000% yearly returns on options?

And how exactly are you gonna buy an option 15 min after the announcement if the stock announces pre-open or after close!? Options don't have after-hours trading!

    Odd Lots?

In simple terms, market makers make money off the spread, buying on the bid and selling on the ask. Spreads can't be less than 0.05 as that's the minimum price increment.

    Odd Lots?

There's no such thing as a "round lot" or "odd lot" in options. Granted, sometimes it may be easier to get a fill on a big order cause that particular size may be what market maker needs to hedge his/her current position. Now, just because you are at the best bid with 1 contract or 100...

    Newbie

Sorry, didn't mean to be rude. Here's the best way to approach options, especially if you're a newbie: Assume that options are priced to perfection at all times, so that there are no arbitrage profits to be made. If something doesn't seem right it means that you're missing something and...
