    Rate Hike On The Way

STILL no explanation for those extra 27,000 construction jobs last month, dhpar? You realize that if that adjustment were instead negative, they'd be subtracting more than 27,000 out of that number. I wonder if they did any adjustment to subtract out all the real estate folks that have...

30% of All Cars Purchased In California Made With Home Equity Loans (16% in Florida)

How about BOTH a tax deduction, AND a way to buy without having to actually ever pay. Remember that you are going to sell the house for more in the future as housing prices appreciate, so the end result is when you sell the house, the profit pays for the SUV. Sounds like people were just...

    Rate Hike On The Way

Nope, debt stil rising. FED released data on consumer debt on Friday. Its obvious they are just making the same adjustments they always make to add jobs to those reported, be it right or wrong until somebody tells them to change that method. I think that method might work just fine when...

    Rate Hike On The Way

Ok, Tell me why they add between 27,000 and 31,000 to the construction jobs numbers actually reported EVERY MARCH? Do you mean to tell me they KNOW that another 27,000 to 31,000 construction workers get hired on every march beyond what are reported? Even THIS MARCH? Look at housing...

    Rate Hike On The Way

They just needed something to make the crybabies wanting a rate cuts to quiet down for a while, IMO so they could bounce the dollar a bit. Raising them at all would have too many real world ramifications that couldn't be as easily fudged, and that's the only other way to make the dollar go up.

    Rate Hike On The Way

To be honest, I don't believe the revised numbers anymore than the preliminary ones. As a matter of fact, I think that was a desperate attempt by the administration to improve the numbers that had been so lousy all year. I believe they should track employment, unemployment, number retired...

I didn't see this on TV anywhere. Must not have been worthy of reporting.

Bonds Slide, Dollar Up After Jobs Report

27,000, or over 1/2 of those construction jobs were added as an adjustment, not reported by employers... Same for 6,000 manufacturing jobs they are assuming were created but not reported. I'm sorry, but I find it hard to believe we are creating many new manufacturing businesses with the...

    The Fed can't cut

I read yesterday that home rental vacancies are also rising. I wonder where people are moving to? Or are they adding units still?

    Rate Hike On The Way

It hurts that 16,000 more manufacturing jobs were lost, especially when you consider that the number included 6,000 that they added assuming new manufacturing companies opened, which given the level of global competition, I find hard to believe. Also, 27,000 of the 53,000 construction jobs...

Golden Era of Wealth Has Arrived For Investors and Traders

As long as they keep inflating money supply at a 10% or 12% clip, everything will go up. But when they are forced to stop, look out below.

    "Wiki technology" changes everything.

Good luck. By the way, that was a cynical remark. Linux is the only example I can think of. Its the passionate hatred of Microsoft and Apple mentalities that drove it. That is also what it will take to reproduce it.

How hard is to find the Barron's weekly?

She'd have best luck looking in an affluent or corporate area. All the gas stations even have it here.

They are lending yo uthe money, so they make the rules. I closed my tradestation account when they made me sell some stock because of that. The day after i sold it went up 5%.

Can someone double check this 'fact' from Jim Rogers

For component parts supplies, I'd agree, but most of the western companies I worked for seemed to get into joint ventures there with local partners to do the assembly, etc. Most of my info is Automotive parts related. At least that was the way it seemed to me. Sounds like your knowledge is...

U.S. MBA's Mortgage Applications Index Fell 3.2% Last Week

One of the CEO's of a big homebuilder said in an almost tearful voice that he was amazed that ANYONE was coming to look at new homes as bad as things were. He was surprised anyone still had the guts to sign a contract with prices falling and lenders going under. I see no surprise in the...

Can someone double check this 'fact' from Jim Rogers

I'd find that hard to believe. I'd bet a very big hunk is from western companies setting up facilities to outsource production. That's what all the companies I've worked for are doing. Open it up there, Shut it down here. Maybe you do it as you make changes to products, or maybe you do...

Spin doctors: house sales contracts signed up 1.7% was really down 8%

The up 1.7% for March was compared to Feb. DUH! In 1/2 the country you don't buy houses in Feb because you can't get around for the snow, ice, and cold. If you compare March to March of last year it was down 8%. I wouldn't mind if they gave both numbers, but most of the news...

    Fair Value

Lots of takers at 60%, and I agree, but none at 10%. This thing could be down 10% in one or two bad days, IMO. Then again, as nutty as people are, it could be up 10% in spite of the abysmal economics.
