Why not just go apply for a trading position at an HFT firm? I can not recommend this program I can say maybe look into it http://stuart.iit.edu/programs/ms-finance
It is true if the spread is wide and you put a limit order to buy at the offer you will likely get a worse fill than if you placed a market order. If you believe you got filled at a bad price you should speak to their trading desk and have them adjust the trade per obvious error rule or fair...
The combined gives a more realistic simulated trading environment because something is on the line yet there is no account to blow up. I was told it takes about two years to learn how to trade so fact dude was at it for two years is not unusual
Some books have actually caused harm. The one good book I read and reread is
"Trading Rules that Work: The 28 Lessons Every Trader Must Master" though there are parts of the book I did not find helpful there are some very important points:
Order flow and only order flow is what moves markets...
Interesting. I was just considering opening an account with them as daytrader rock star speaks highly of them. I'm wondering if anyone knows of any problems caused by being an account holder with them.
remember that taking losses is also the same as taking profits. Cutting losses equals profit. The thing to avoid is to ride the loss all the way down to zero.
Luck cuts both ways. Good luck occurs when things happen that make us money but we never planned it that way. Is it possible to have skills and be knocked out by bad luck? Really I don't know but the point also is that people who are building skills can get discouraged when bad luck knocks...
Don't confuse skill and luck. If you get lucky that is great but if you think it is skill the next time around it wont work.
Personally, I believe that we can work on both. We improve luck when we are more positive and don't do bad things.
The book is called the Success Equation. I am in the middle of it and the content is good. How much of trading is skill and how much is luck I do not know. But it is not 100% skill. That is for sure.
