    java .net bridge

I have a .NET project compiled as a COM object, use it in Java through JACOB. Not the latest and greatest solution but it works .... JACOB is really easy .... using it in realtime, no slowdown from what I can tell. The biggest headache was that JACOB holds the object in a single Java thread...

how to incorporate live data feed

Yes you can go through TT, or another good option is IQfeed. You hook into the API and it runs silently in the background. A pretty good data feed for the price.

    Going Automated

I am using Genesis Laser and had to deal with plenty of bad ticks. A simple filter that (ask - bid) < 1%, and last price is reasonably near the bid/ask prices, has actually been working fine (for stock L1 quotes). Now filtering stuck quotes in L2 is a little more difficult ....

    cygroup

Yes they are good, do a search for Cy. I have been with them for 5 months now .... the Laser software is better than most, good community / chat room, no nonsense with the fees and withdrawal policy, commissions are so-so. Risk control is a little tight for my preference, I want the option to...

Fed Acts to Stem Credit Turmoil

The worthless CDOs are just collateral .... the banks have to pay the money back, right?

Swing trading with a prop firm?

The 20:1 is all based on your deposit, so if you put up 5k, that is all you need to trade 100k, with 10k you can trade 200k. Some firms do offer overnight, but never 20:1, usually 4:1 or I have seen 6:1. Most prop firms do charge interest on overnight leverage, but not intraday.

    Computer setup help

Yes I am running quotetracker alongside a direct access platform .... any new computer you buy will handle it no problem. For best performance look for a dual or quad core processor. Of course, you also need at least cable/DSL speed internet connection.

    Anyone tried Freedomrocks?

Some ideas posted earlier in the thread may be misleading to newbies: The #1 reason people lose money in forex, is trading without a viable edge. Feb. 27 wasn't very unusual .... shakeups happen, and it will happen again, at least as bad and maybe much worse. Or, the correlation will break down...

    Boiled Eggs

    Don't read my diary

Optioncoach is right - some people with high risk tolerance might make 50% or more in 2 months (like Neke in his journal), while someone managing 10 million would be happy with a few percent a month. Percent return is only meaningful in the context of drawdown/blowout risk you are taking.

Your wife is serving you unfresh eggs.

    Boiled Eggs

It all depends on the freshness of the egg, I'm serious.

    Boiled Eggs

The fresher the egg, the harder it is to peel. I'm sure this has been discussed before.

Gentlemen! I need your advice …

Yes, my first account was 8000 with Interactive Brokers. I burned it down to under 4000 (tuition!), but turned it around and have been profitable every month in 2007.

Gentlemen! I need your advice …

Even if you only have 5k to start, it will be about 6 months to 100mm. It would take more time than that to find a buyer, negotiate, and verify the system. Trading it yourself is really the way to go. As an added bonus, you will find out if your system works with real money.

Gentlemen! I need your advice …

Being a scientist you should be able to figure this out .... at 8% per day your 100k will be 100 million in about 90 trading days. Barring any liquidity issues :p So about 4 months. Better get started.

If You Doubt The Existence of The Plunge Protection Team

No doubt the PPT exists. The real question is are they involved in the market day to day, propping up GM etc. or are they on the sidelines waiting for a 2/27.... or are they waiting for something worse than 2/27 ....
